ABC News Online: Huawei executive's arrest sees China threaten Canada with 'serious consequences'
China has warned Canada that there will be severe consequences if it does not immediately release a senior Huawei executive, calling the case "extremely nasty".
Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's global chief financial officer, was arrested in Canada on December 1 and faces extradition to the United States, which alleges that she covered up her company's links to a firm that tried to sell equipment to Iran, despite sanctions.
The executive is the daughter of the founder of Huawei.

The Chinese have taken measure of Trudeau. They believe he will break under their pressure and give them any concession they want.
I hope they are wrong.
And it is interesting timing - to arrest the daughter of the CEO of a deeply inter-government connected Chinese tech firm - the day that Trump is meeting with Xi. No better way to inflame trade tensions, spook the DJIA and embarrass Trump.
This may well be an intentional provocation.
This puts China in a bit of a position where any action they take, they look bad. Do they blow up the trade deal over this and the prevention of the technology sale for earlier this week? Or do they sit there and take this in hope of getting a deal.
I measure of their willingness to deal so to speak.
We shall see, but this is not something that would have happened without the approval from very, very high up in the administration. Otherwise an arrest like this would have been make far sooner.
Oh, no.. China don't like to be held accountable to international law?
Oh, no!
Bad, other 6 billion people. You BAD! You forgot to bow to Chinese people! Chinese people good, you bad! BOW!! BOWW!!!!!
If the Canadian prime minister crumbles so will canada
American law is not international law
In this case it is one and the same
International law is the same as the barbarians setting up shop in the Roman Empire.
Trudeau is going to have to pick a Side...... considering the economic footprint China has in Canada I’m leaning towards the dear leader caving to the Chinese. Consequences will be had no matter which way we go.
Please, please, please nuke Canada.
I'd say nuke America, too, but it is filled so many obese dips$%ts that the collective fatty content of those vaporized would increase global temperatures dangerously.
Always the "anonymous"with the biggest mouthes..🇺🇸
