French President Macron Slams President Trump Over Syria Withdrawal

AFP: Macron says 'an ally must be reliable' after US Syria pullout announcement

N'Djamena (AFP) - French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday criticised US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw American forces from Syria, saying "an ally must be reliable".

In a sign of the growing diplomatic rift between the two leaders, Macron said "I deeply regret the decision" by Trump to pullout US troops.

Trump last week ordered a complete troop pullout from Syria, asserting that the Islamic State group had been defeated, as well as a significant withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Analysts said the momentous reversal of years of US foreign policy will leave the war-torn regions at risk of continued and potentially heightened bloodshed.

An American maxim that is often said, but rarely implemented is that "if you not in it to win it, then you should not have gone in the 1st place."

1/3rd to 2/3rds of the country does not care. A clear case has not been made or if it has it does not matter. The people rather fight the internecine wars here in America.

The only way to get Congressional Democrats on board is to raise marginal rates to 90% put them in charge and then they would be in it to win it maybe for a year or so before deciding now that they are absolute power they do not care what the population thinks. They are smarter after all.

If macron is for something, I'm against it haha it's a safe bet to be on the right side of history if you do the opposite of what this clown does

France has the nerve to say that! Who leave Afghanistan without keeping the promise to stay "altogether" with other Allie's? And that's just only one example.

Anon (9:41AM),

Couldn't have put this any better myself. Frankly with friends like that one doesn't need enemies.

Jac (10:21AM),

I remember this about Afghanistan. I also remember Iraq 2003. They not onky didn't help us but actively sought to undermine our efforts.
