Iran Boasts That It Has A Stealth Warship

DW: Iran launches 'radar-evading' warship

Iran has unveiled its latest domestically developed warship, which state media claims has stealth properties. Tehran has developed a large domestic arms industry in the face of international sanctions.

Iran's navy unveiled its latest warship in the port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday, amid rising tensions over the recent reimposition of US sanctions.

The Sahand destroyer joined the rest of the fleet at the mouth of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, in a ceremony carried live on state television.

Why are you skeptical? Iranian military capabilities have grown exponentially in recent years. As such, I would be skeptical at any report suggesting Iran doesn't have this capability.

I just saw the ship that we can not see

It’s stealth alright, I assure you won’t be able to see it when it’s sitting at the bottom of the ocean.

Vertical surfaces, sharp corners ... definitely not stealthy.

This photo may be designed to throw the reader off if we assume the ship in the picture isn't stealthy. I would assume Iran has this capability.

"Not sure how they think that giant mast won't bounce back radar waves." If this is the stealth ship, I think it without saying that the Iranians know more about stealth than you do. I reiterate I would be skeptical of any report that says Iran dies not have stealth ships.

If our policies toward Iran go awry, it is the heads of Americans, my countrymen and eomen, my loved ones whose heads are on the chopping block. As a Canadian you and loved ones are safe and face no danger from this. As such, you can blithely dismiss the report. As an American, I cannot.

Bottom line: American military planners and civilian leaders need to be operating as though Iran has stealth ships and treat any report to the contrary as bogus without extraordinary proof. This does NOT mean we should not confront Iran. It needs to be done based upon reality and not fantasy.
