The mood at the Pentagon and on Capitol Hill darkened with the resignation of Defense Secretary James Mattis.
A Pentagon official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity on Friday, described the mood inside the building as “eerie.”
“Obviously it’s close to the holidays so you don’t expect to see a lot of people, but there’s just a general fear of the unknown,” the official said.

I am depressed every day that Schumer is on TV and making sausage on capital hill.
I've despised Schumer since he first popped up in the Senate in the 1990s. He had a jihad against General Mills and Kellogs back then. It has gotten no better since. If Trump is on one side and Schumer is on the other, then what Trump is doing must be 80% or 100% correct.
I am sad to see Mattis go. I also think Trump may doing the right thing.
