It doesn't matter what Putin wants. We should care what's best for the US

1) is the mission clearly defined? Not to my knowledge. I might be wrong but I haven't seen any clear mission statement.

2) if the mission is not clearly defined, are there kpi we can go by? I think so. One kpi was to kick ISIS Ass. .I think that happened. Are all dead? No and neither is that possible nor needed nor humane. We are not like them. We don't have to kill everyone just to make a point .. another kpi was the money they were able to generate when they captured the oil plants. We got them. Another kpi was the Land they controlled. That's gone too.

3) this leaves the question of the kurds. I admit to not know much about them other than that they fouht bravely. And they're at war with the assad regime, I believe. But unless we kill Assad and decimate his regime, this won't stop. And we would have killed Assad a long time ago if it wouldn't mean war with Russia. So this is the reality of real politics. It sucks but do we want a world war? Then we all die, including the Kurds

So I think it's good to bring the troops home. .but two things should happen

A. As I mentioned, I don't know much about the Kurds..but I Do think to remember they wanted weapons. Is that something we can do? I think to remember this was discussed before and only minor arms were given as we like their fighters but we don't trust them enough, right? We didn't give them major weapons. Correct me if I'm wrong. So there was already a bit doubt, right? Either way let's look at that again

B. we should not have these open ended/see what happens wars or missions. Does anyone know what we did over there other than kill ISIS and try to empower Kurds? Because unless you're all in, and you face Russia as opponent, it's not a good strategy. It'll just prolong misery. Look at Syria ffs it's almost completely gone. I know it's mostly Assad and Putin's fault but still. .it feels wrong to be in such a war without clear mission. I might be just too dumb but I wouldn't want to send any soldier over there without a clear mission beyond the ISIS mission I mentioned. And realistically, even if the US would stay another 5 years or 20, terror groups and extremists will remain. Don't you see the? Look at Afghanistan. Almost 18 years. Think anything will be different over there in 25 years or 30 years? I don't think so. But then again maybe I'm too dumb to see that 5D chess plan previous administrations had in mind. You know, those plans that cost nearly 5 trillion dollar by now..

I do not care if the US pulls put so long as we arm the Kurds to the teeth and and keep them supplied.

If the Turks spoil for a fight, let the Kurds heap the bodies of the Turks up.

Anon (7:52),

This probably could be done IF the Kurds are actually worth it which I bave my doubts. As I discussed elsewhere I think they may not be that much different than any number of the users and abusers America deals with in any given day. Such a move does risk blowback but if it can be justified in terms of advancing legitimate American interests, IF the Kurds are worth it, and logistically we can carry this out perhaps we should.
