President Trump announced Sunday that he would review the case of a U.S. Army Green Beret who was charged with the murder of an Afghan man.
Maj. Matthew Golsteyn learned last week that he was charged in the 2010 shooting of a man he described as a suspected terrorist while serving in Afghanistan, and could face the death penalty.
“At the request of many, I will be reviewing the case of a ‘U.S. Military hero,’ Major Matt Golsteyn, who is charged with murder,” Trump tweeted. “He could face the death penalty from our own government after he admitted to killing a Terrorist bomb maker while overseas.”
