Yonhap News Agency: Senior officials of N.K. leader's bodyguard unit purged: report
Senior officials of the bodyguard unit for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have been purged for corruption, a Japanese newspaper report said Tuesday.
The Tokyo Shimbun report came a day after North Korea's main Rodong Sinmun newspaper said the country has declared war on corruption, and called for punishment of those involved in such "enemy-benefiting" acts, regardless of their rank.
In a report from Beijing, the Japanese newspaper cited multiple sources saying that senior officials of the Supreme Court Command were purged after a special inspection found that the chief of the command's political department secretly possessed millions of dollars.

But within North Korea itself, everyone now knows that change is coming. And while no one really knows how long it will take, and in what form it may be. Those who have influence and power in North Korea are now positioning to take advantage of the reforms that are too come. For Kim Jung Un this is a problem. He needs to present a unified front to the outside world that he controls his country and that everyone is following his lead and not pursuing their own self interests. These purges is Kim Jong-un's way to instill fear .... and a reminder to everyone that he is still the boss.
