CNN: Trump to launch Space Command this week as Pence promotes space efforts
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump will order in the coming days the establishment of a new military space command, a move that comes as Vice President Mike Pence plans two high-profile visits related to the US space program, three US officials tell CNN.
Pence will visit Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral on Tuesday, and is expected to visit the Pentagon this week, in part to discuss Trump's sought-after Space Force.

The White House did not respond to requests for comment.

WNU Editor: This launching is seen as the first step towards establishing a "Space Force". As for President Trump's "Space Force", the Pentagon has made a decision on Space Force being an entirely new military department and/or residing under the Department of the Air Force, but the public announcement will only be made in the future .... Will the Space Force sit under the Department of the Air Force? The Pentagon finally has an answer (Defense News). On a side note .... if Space Force is to be an entirely new military department, the new incoming Congress will need to approve it.
