Will Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford Follow US Defense Secretary Mattis And Resign?

Military Times: With Mattis leaving the Pentagon, is Dunford next to go?

With Thursday’s announcement that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis had resigned over disagreement with the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw all U.S. forces from Syria, among other splits, all eyes turned to the military’s top-ranking officer to see if he would be following suit.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford was traveling overseas on his annual visit to troops over the holidays when the news broke of Mattis' resignation.

WNU Editor: When I read two weeks ago that President Trump had picked Army Gen. Mark Milley to be the next Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs (link here) .... 10 months before Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford is mandated to leave .... that was a message to me that President Trump wants General Dunford out ASAP. My prediction. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dunford will be leaving sooner rather than later.

More power to him.
Rationally, it's been nearly 2 decades and trillions spent and thousands of lives lost.

Where are the results?

In any other domain everyone would have been fired.

While I do resoect every soldier and general for what they do, I don't think they should be excempt from consequences. In the private sector, if you don't meet your goals or come up with the right solutions, you're fired. And it's not a nice thing to happen to you...all these generals are waaaaaaay better off than most people in the private sector. And while yes, they do things I probably never could, so do plumbers. And they always get the job done.

Love Trump or hate him. He at least shakes things up and after 2 decades maybe that's what we need

You are spot on. There's little I can add expect to say the "results" for Ametica and arguably much of the world are far worse than they were two decades ago. Were they in the private sector not only would they be fired there might even be prosecutions for dome of their actions.

When given an option between Trump's approach or the old failed approaches, the Trump approach seems best. Perhaps there is a "third way" that is preferable but has not been presented.

You're suggesting the results are good!??! The first post correctly points out the utter failure of US policy over the last two decades. I expounded on this and added that perhaps some people should be prosecuted for this incompetence. As a private sector business owner, I know I would be.

This will work better if you either 1.)expound upon the editor's post. 2.)offer a coubter argument to the editor's post. 3.)Expound upon the comments made in the thread. 4.)Offer a counter argument to the comments made in the thread.

Frank dialogue is actually very much appreciated. I must conclude you are either an unserious person or you support the undeniably failed current policies. If you hace donething serious to offer, please do so.

Still nothing of value to contribute. If you want frank dialogue and to discuss this issue or others on this site, I'm all eyes. Frankly back and forth dialogue is how we learn.

"Da commrade" comments are a waste of time and not only add nothing of value but are actually a distraction from and a hindrance to those who are wishing to have serious discussions. As such, while having my character imougned is a pet peeve of mine of sorts, in the best interests of constructive dialogue I am going to ignore such "da commrade" comments in the future.

Again, if you'd like to have a back and forth discussion on this issue or any other on this site, I'm all eyes.

If you wish to discuss anything not related to this website, contact me through my company website at www.fosgeecpa.com. My name is Robert Foshee. I suspect you already know this but wanted to make sure you and anyone else who is interested has my contact information.

Typo on the company website. The correct web site address is: www.fosheecpa.com

I apologize for the oversight. Again, I think you already knew but others may not.
