China, China, China will be a century long focus of the USA. An honest assessment of the confrontation will force the US to rethink the WWII alliance system it set up. European defense and US fighting wars in the Middle East will enable China to take the initiative and constantly keep the US off balance.

So I expect the long awaited US withdrawal from NATO is inevitably to be replaced by a far smaller alliance with just the maritime European states in critical areas such as north Atlantic and the Med.
