But some of China’s claims about a new missile don’t add up.
China says its new hypersonic missile, the DF-17, can sink U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. The claim, which ran in several media outlets controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, came just hours after U.S. and British Royal Navy warships sailed through the South China Sea together.
Yes, China almost certainly has such missiles. Whether the country could marshal the resources to locate a carrier at sea and then sink it is a much more open question.

WNU Editor: I can understand why some are skeptical that China does not have the technical ability to locate and then guide their missiles to his these carriers. The engineering that is necessary to make this possible is huge. But make no mistake about it .... China wants this capability, and it appears that they are putting the resources to make it possible.

I think that's ridiculous.. they are easy to detect by most nations, even 3rd army nations... plus the electric jamming still possible by nations like Russia, England, Germany, Israel, France, Australia, Japan, China, a lot of nations.. of course China could do it.. the US currently doesn't have any defense against an onslaught of those hyper-sonic missiles.. 3-4-5-10 maybe, but not the dozens the Chinese would send to sink a carrier.. if I'm wrong, prove it :P
