The Guardian: Europe 'coming apart before our eyes', say 30 top intellectuals
Group of historians and writers publish manifesto warning against rise of populism.
Liberal values in Europe face a challenge “not seen since the 1930s”, leading intellectuals from 21 countries have said, as the UK lurches towards Brexit and nationalists look set to make sweeping gains in EU parliamentary elections.
The group of 30 writers, historians and Nobel laureates declared in a manifesto published in several newspapers, including the Guardian, that Europe as an idea was “coming apart before our eyes”.
“We must now will Europe or perish beneath the waves of populism,” the document reads. “We must rediscover political voluntarism or accept that resentment, hatred and their cortege of sad passions will surround and submerge us.”

WNU Editor: Brexit. Protests throughout France on every Saturday. Greece's debt crisis now in year eight. Eastern Europe refusing to abide by EU rules on settling migrants from Africa and the Middle East. The election of a conservative government in Italy. High youth unemployment throughout most of Europe. The impossibility of a young family to make enough to buy a home. This blog is not big enough to list all the reasons on why the EU is falling apart, and how the elites have failed it citizens. Europe as we know it is changing, and it should surprise no one.

Yep. Poland going to be in need of a massive Western Wall.
GERMANIC,
HOARDS,
R,
Fall apart?
It was unnaturally put together. It was forced together. You force mechanical systems together and you expect them to come apart.
Votes were repetitively force upon some countries sometimes nearly every year until they voted to join. IMHO that is force. The elite politicians are unaccountable to their so called constituents. The elite acts as though they are Optimates, which is very arrogant and condescending.
They say you are suppose to spend no more than 30% of you household budget on housing.
As a general rule, you want to spend no more than 30 percent of your monthly gross income on housing. If you're a renter, that 30 percent includes utilities, and if you're an owner, it includes other home-ownership costs like mortgage interest, property taxes and maintenance.
What % of your time budget should you spend politics, reading up on the issues and voting?
If War is politics by other means and politics is war by other means, maybe we spend so much time voting and everything is so roiled up, because we are at war. That is thing swill stay roiled up and we will be at war until one side gets its way and conquers at which time they will have their diktat until people get sick of them and the process starts over.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendums_related_to_the_European_Union#EU_enlargement_of_1995
- They kept holding referendums until people passed them they way they wanted.
- Then TPTB like putting people in prison for having views different than theirs. See Marie Le Penn (just like the old USSR).
- They lied about the state finances of various nations to allow them to meet the threshold requirements to join.
Enough spade work was not done. Instead they hurried it. They said something to the effect of "We can do it". Sloganeeing does not work for a quality program, why should it work for something bigger. Actually they say slogans do work. in the short term and you get small noticeable improvements but those evaporate and the end result is people become skeptical and you have poisoned the well.
The EU will happen at a later date than if they had done it right.
Lazy morons!
Between work, continuing education family, friends, etc you only have so much time for politics and learning the issues. That is what the bastards are counting on.
A good person should learn the issues, but there is only so much time and they keep rehashing the issues. And there is only so much a person can learn about the issues depending on what they given their profession and education.
Good
