Politico: Trump: We will be with NATO '100 percent'
President Donald Trump on Thursday said the United States is "100 percent" with NATO, days after a report alleged that the president privately discussed withdrawing from the military alliance multiple times over the past year.
"We're gonna be with NATO 100 percent, but as I told the countries, 'You have to step up and you have to pay,'" Trump said while announcing a missile defense review at the Pentagon.

USA, Norway, Britain, Turkey pay the most by far for NATO expenses. All soon to be non-EU members. Something like 80% of NATO spending is from those 4 nations. The first three guard NATO's western flank and Turkey its southern flank. Sure Turkey is debatable at this point, might as well exclude them. Then the first three spend around 70% of NATO spending or close enough.
NATO is very much guarded by non-EU members. That is why Merkel and Macron very much want to launch an EU Military and why Germanys defense spending increases, if at all, will go to EU designated units.
NATO wanted by our military. Trump a number of times mentioned dropping it and that of course was what Putin wanted too. Lawmakers, experts doubt Trump could unilaterally pull US from NATO
