President Donald Trump said he will make a "major" announcement on Saturday about the border and ongoing government shutdown.
The president did not provide any further details on what he would discuss on what is set to be the 28th day of the partial government shutdown. The White House press team offered no further guidance to reporters when asked about the president's tweet late Friday.
The shutdown is the result of Congress's inability to pass a short-term funding bill for the government that Trump would be willing to sign.
The president has insisted that such a bill contain more than $5 billion in funding to build a border wall. Democrats have refused to agree with that demand.

Trump gave Congress 6 months to actually pass DACA and make it law. If the president can make a law such as DACA we are post-Republic / Post Caesar.
Congress demurred. Congress declined to pass DACA. They were afraid of getting slaughtered at the polls. I do not see why. After all the Democrats stole 8 congressional seats in California alone. Nancy could pass DACA in the house. It would go to the Senate where it has a good chance of passing since McConnell is a squish.

Trump gave Congress a 6 month grace period to fix the illegal action of obama in regards to DACA.
Now he offered to give them a 3 year grace period to screw up the courage to pass DACA, explain it to the voting public and then face them on election day.
