Foreign Policy: U.S. Considering Plan to Stay in Remote Syrian Base to Counter Iran
The Trump administration could face legal issues maintaining a small force at al-Tanf.
Despite President Donald Trump’s December pledge to withdraw all U.S. forces from Syria, the U.S. government is considering a plan to keep some troops in a remote U.S. base in southeastern Syria to counter Iranian activity, sources tell Foreign Policy.

WNU Editor: I would love to know who is floating this idea.

Special forces will be floating the idea, they have operated out of that base throughout the war, using it as a safe haven to strike deep inside Syria including Damascus. Its location is perfectly situated for SAS operations. Falling back to the boarder would pose infiltration risks and easy target identification.
If it's a military person, they were not elected to conduct foreign policy. If so, this person needs to either resign based on principle the way general Mattis did even though the principles he gave were bizarre or they need to be terminated forthwith.
If it's a person appointed by POTUS, fire them immediately. If it's a member of the deep state, hopefully we can find out who it is and purge them.
If it's an elected official, POTUS needs to challenge this person directly if possible. As they know remaining in Syria is a non winning issue with the American people, they are probably to cowardly to engage in such a direct confrontation/debate with POTUS on this.
Again, no one likes Americans. Get the eff out because you were not invited
