I've been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted #Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it out safely.— Donald Tusk (@eucopresident) February 6, 2019
DW: 'Special place in hell' for Brexiteers, says Donald Tusk
The EU Council President has piled on the misery for Theresa May as she tours Northern Ireland. His comments were condemned by the unionist DUP party, which wants to nix the deal's controversial Irish backstop.
European Council President Donald Tusk did not mince words on Wednesday with regards to Brexit. Writing on Twitter, Tusk wrote: "I've been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted #Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it out safely."
The president's comment was criticized by prominent pro-Brexit voices, such as Nigel Farage, who called Tusk and his colleagues "arrogant bullies," without addressing the criticism that Brexit campaigners put forward as an option without a concrete plan to implement it.

Wnu, many in the UK were mislead by people who promoted Brexit and promised it would be so easy and BILLIONS(!) would be saved. Where is this easy process? Where are the savings? What happened to the promises?
That's why Tusk is right, and you are wrong.
Brexit, for all we know, could have been a Russian operation to break Europe apart. You and bposter certainly seem to like Brexit a lot..just saying ;-)
I beg to differ, with project fear. I mean one day it's the Russians the next day it is a far-right plot. At least have some consistency in your attempts to divert the will of the people.
Yes, of course, the russians made Brexit happen. There is No other explenation.
.......
If I were a Brit, Tusk’s comments would make me redouble my efforts to exit.
Anon,
12:31AM, the process of carrying out BREXIT has been carried out by incompetent boobs who did not agree with this in the first place and many have actively sought to undermine this.
I agree with anon (6:26AM), couldn't have put this better. I remember when this man all but declared Donald Trump an enemy. In so doing, he declared the people who voted for him as an enemy and by extension America itself as an enemy and all of this because America doesn't want to live under this entity and refuses to continue being their chumps.
I also remember a joint press conference with George W Bush circa 2008 where he discussed modernizing Poland's military. He seemed very condescending towards POTUS. I'm not sure if this means there is a "special place in hell" for him but it does lend, to me at least, lend strong credence to the assertion that this is not a man who can be trusted.
Anon (4:00AM) has also nailed it. In one's attempts to thwart the will of the people and to maintain and expand the power of the elites fear must be projected and enemies be they Russian meddling or far-right extremists who don't exist or, if they do, don't have any real power need to be overstated or invented out of whole cloth.
IMHO all people like Tusk, the Euro elites he represents, Democrats in America, and many Republicans have now is fear, loathing, high taxes, over burdensome regulations, a stagnated economy, and perpetual war. In contrast, Trump came along offering the opposite of this and hope for the future for Americans of something better.
The same generally applies to those who support Brexit. Being free of the shackles of the EU offer Britons hope for the future. IMHO Staying in the EU offers them no such hope.
Hans,
Of course there is "no other explanation." Some people need enemies be they Russian, far-right extremists or whatever to justify their continued control. They need this even if means they have to overstate the threat posed by an adversary or invent it. In this instance, they have gone of their way to expand and exacerbate Cold War 2. IMHO this is a war we didn't need, can't readily afford, winning it is going to be problematic, and even if we do "win" there seems nothing of concrete value to be gained. Five, ten, fifteen years ago, and perhaps even last year after the "summit" ending this would have been relatively straightforward. Now much has been done by both sides to exacerbate things since then IMHO egged on by the elites in America who could have easily taken a different path so I am not sure that ending this without a major confrontation is going to be possible. Best case scenario precious resources will now need to be diverted to this effort that could have an should have been utilized elsewhere all for a confrontation we really didn't need in the first place!!
I apologize for the grammatical errors above. I ma quite busy today and did not have time to proof read.
