Is There A Mutiny At Venezuela's Central Bank?

Central Bank of Venezuela in Caracas

FOX News: Plan to pull nearly $1B in gold out of Venezuela reportedly halted

Plans by Venezuelan officials to ship 20 tons of gold overseas have reportedly been halted as the embattled presidency of Nicolas Maduro faces international pressure to cede power to a transitional government and protect the country’s hard assets.

The gold bars, worth around $850 million, were weighed and separated in the central bank but won’t be leaving the country anytime soon, according to reports. On Tuesday, reports emerged that the gold was ready to be loaded onto a Russian airliner that arrived in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas a day earlier.

A cargo plane operated by Moscow-based E-cargo reportedly landed in Caracas on Wednesday, raising speculation that it would transport the gold. The plane reportedly left the country Friday afternoon.

WNU Editor: If this gold transfer was stopped, some are speculating that it is because of this .... Mutiny Breaks Out At Venezuela's Central Bank (Zero Hedge). I guess after printing money that is worthless, the few that remain in Venezuela's Central Bank are saying no to transferring the only wealth that they really have .... its gold. Here is an easy prediction. President Maduro still controls the government, and if he wants this gold out of the country, it will be going out of the country.

An even easier prediction....the Maduro government remains in power or a Russian, Cuban, Chinese surrogate takes over while Maduro and his supporters live out a life in luxury elsewhere while Russian, Chinese, and Cuban influence expands throughout central and south America and those who supported this hare brained scheme get swept away.

Does Trump support such stupidity? Maybe Garry Kasparov is right. With this Venezuelan stupidity Putin has been handed an opportunity on a giod platter. After all Trump loves his wife who is of eastern European descent. By jumping on the bandwagon of opposition to the Venezuelan government so quickly Trump and his team has just given "causus beli" to tnem to expwnd their influence throughout central and south America.

Not so long ago a negotiated end to Cold War 2 would've been quite easy. Now not so much. The primary problem is evil and demented people on our (American) side or so it would seem.

Of course many including eastern Europans would be happy to use us as pawns on their chess boards. Can POTUS resist this. Probably not. After all he's got to resist hos wife whom he loves and the establishment.

Maybe he can resist the establishment. I tnink h.e can but I don't think he can resist his loving wife. Who could do such a thing?

Essentially we are left hoping that a new government hare-brained scheme will somehow end differently than previous such ridiculous and failed schemes. Lord I pray the ebd will be different this time and if it isn't Lord allow us to survive t he onslaught of our enemies.

"If B Poster were a Facebook page, it would be deleted." You must be against free speech.

I apologize for the incoherence of the previous post. I was distracted.

All of our foreign policies initiatives in the 21st century from Iraq, Libya, Ukraine and others have ended in disaster for us and have greatly undermined our global position. Syria was headed the same way until Russia got directly involved and Trump switched the mission to one strictly focused on eliminating ISIS.

To me unfortunately our policy towards Venezuela doesn't look any different than the previous ones that have utterly failed. Therefore I conclude that our current pokicy toward Venezuela will end the same way. Hopefully I'm wrong. Trump is a new variable that wasn't present when the previous policies were initiated and IMHO he has shown a level of common sense and a grasp of reality that had been missing from US leadership.

We have a great opportunity to do things like end the Korean Conflict, get out of Afghanistan in a nanner that saves face, and, while it would be more difficult niw, a negotiated end to Cold War 2 is still possible. IMHO it is evil and demented people who are supposedly on our side who are trying to undercut all of this.

As I tried to point out, I'm not sure we can have a reasonable policy towards eastern Europe. POTUS's wife is of eastern European descent. I think he may be being manipulated or perhaps he'st plain enamored by them. In any event he's been tgeir greatest advocate in US history even at the expense of our interests.

You wish to delete me. Maybe you oppose free speech. Perhaps you are in need of a safe space.

"You wish to delete me."

You seem like a Russian troll.

Ancient American saying is "If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck"

You can post under Ivan (Real or pseudonym) from Petersberg all day long, if that is who you be. The problem is when you say you are John from Saint Petersberg Florida or something like that.

If I were a Russian troll, I would take pro-Russian positions even at the expense of American interests. I don't do this. Therefore I don't meet tbe definition of a Russian troll.

Had you read my posts in their entirety you would know this. For sone reason you chose to misrepresent me. I suspect this was either in ignorance or malice, unfortunately most likely the latter. When the argument is weak, slander the messenger is frankly all you have.

Maybe you did this in ignorance. If so, my name is Robert Foshee. I'm a Certified Public Accountant. My company website is www.fosheecpa.com. obviously I'm not Russian.

I like the saying. As an American, I use it regularly. In my case, you aren't looking close enough or you deliberately chose to misrepresent me.

I take it as a given that American foreign policy in the 21st century has been an unmitigated disaster. Since our current policy toward Venezuela bears much resemblance to our other failures I conclude it's not likely to end well for us. I hope and pray I'm wrong.

Actually a strong case can be made for the removal of the Maduro government. Unfortunately running the same strategies and tactics that have failed in the past as we seem to be doing here isn't likely to end well for us. Again, I hope and pray I'm wrong.

Wnon (4:46PM),

The "problem" is you and perhaps the US government think tank you work for. Of course you have chosen to remain anonymous. I don't think you have the courage to face me or real Americans.

You are not real.
