Venezuelan President Maduro is looking for a way to placate the opposition while keeping his government in power. He has done this many times before when he was pressured to enter into talks with the Venezuelan opposition, but it always ended up with opposition leaders in jail or in exile. That is why with this history, I am very pessimistic that these talks are going to go anywhere.  As for the current economic and humanitarian crisis gripping much of Venezuela, the Venezuelan government's refusal to let in foreign aid is making it worse ....
