FOX News: Arizona GOP Sen. Martha McSally says she was 'preyed upon and then raped' in Air Force by superior officer
Sen. Martha McSally, the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, disclosed during an emotional Senate hearing on Wednesday she was "preyed upon and then raped" in the Air Force by a superior officer.
The Arizona Republican, who served 26 years in the Air Force, made the disclosure during a Senate hearing on sexual assault allegations in the military. McSally said she didn't report the assault because she didn't trust the system, and was ashamed and confused.
“My drive to fight against sexual assault in the ranks is not from the outside looking in," McSally began. "And it is deeply personal."

I would argue its the moral cancer in human nature.
I want to know who the guy (woman?) was who did this and was he (she) charged with rape?
Sexual misconduct in the broad sense must be understood and I suggest both sexes engage in it. For instance an enlisted women seducing an officer then reporting it as a way to get sent back to the states or an early honorable discharge is sexual misconduct by the officer but also the women. Women deliberately getting pregnant while deployed overseas is sexual misconduct. Its not only men raping nor a superior ranking male asking for sexual favors from a female in exchange for benefits.
I imagine sexual abuse goes on in all armies, even the ones that are male only. The US military has not come to terms with the issue and seems to not even admit to it being a problem, perhaps because doing so is an admission that their personnel, male and female, who have been trained to defend their country and kill the "enemy" are actually unable to defend even themselves.
Something akin to fragging comes to mind.

Sexual predation within one's own forces is, of course, terrible but we seem to dismiss it when it happens during war in civilian populations
