The IAF claimed that one of its MiG-21 fighters downed a PAF F-16 after Pakistan said that it had shot down two Indian jets as tensions continue to mount between India and Pakistan. The Pakistan Air Force has denied any losses adding that they did not use an F-16 during the engagement.

For crying out loud, one plane didn't shoot down the other.
Once you have enough of an initial acquisition of a target for a missile, it does not matter the platform/vehicle carrying the missile was an F35, F16, Mig21, SU35, Piper Cub, biplane or a Rolls Royce with wings.
So a MIG21 could shoot down a F16. Plus MIG21's have great rate of turn. You can doubt Soviet engineering, but if you do it more than am little, you will be hurting.
But I suspect that Bob's outburst was for attention. Divorced, separated or whatever, he is all by himself and lonely.

100%, this was one of those rare engagements that didn't occur BVR. The Migs turn in and speed and the right missile selected slaved to a helmet sight with a experienced pilot made the difference.
Canada should look at placing a Bison order. 🤣
