The European parliament has overwhelmingly backed a watershed resolution calling for reparations for crimes committed in Africa during European colonialism.
The bill urges European member states to introduce a series of sweeping reforms aimed at tackling 'structural racism' facing millions of Afro-Europeans.
It calls on the countries to implement nation-wide strategies to deal with discrimination in education, health, housing, policing, the justice system and politics.
The resolution - approved by 535 MEPs, with 80 votes against and 44 abstentions - also calls on European member states to declassify their colonial archives, covering the most disturbing periods of Europe's colonial past, and issue public apologies.

WNU Editor: I am surprised on the minimal coverage of this story by the main stream media. Here is a prediction. The U.S. Congress will be trying to pass a similar resolution on the issue of reparations for African Americans before next year's elections.

What "structural racism"? Everyone nods along when these big claims are made. These studies must be really scrutinised. Sounds to me like another social scientist who couldn't make it in the private sector and then goes out to virtue signal. I have not seen actual racism once in my life and I've been around. Yet billions will be spent. Also colonialism was quite a while ago. Of course it was wrong to do considering today's standards, but back then it was just another country that was conquered. It was normal. How about this: does Germany now pay france for WW2? How about Japan paying China? How about China paying Vietnam? How about the US paying Iraq? What about Russia paying Moldova and Ukraine?
It's always white guilt. No other race will ever pay as much as the white race. If you don't treat everyone equal and let history rest, this will just keep on self perpetuating. Learn from history but don't apply guilt to people who live today and had nothing -zero- to do with it.
This is what happens when an assembly debates matters for which it is not responsible for. The EU parliamentarians can clap themselves on the back for taking this stand without ever having to pay for it themselves. Some other institution would need to pay the bill. Ridiculous.
Historically, all the African colonies - except perhaps for South Africa and the Belgian Congo because of their vast mineral resources - were run at losses by the European colonial powers. They spent more money administering the colonies than they ever gained by it. I wonder if the European countries can add up all the costs and benefits, find out the Africans owe them money, and then send them the bill?
I wonder if the Arab League will likewise enact a similar resolution in regards to the Arab slave trade, invasions, and economic exploitation by Muslim North Africans and Middle Easterners? Of course not. Or will the EU Parliament pass a resolution condemning the historical slave raiding the Muslim empires did on Europe? That'd be a no too.
This is just elite infighting - the main author admits in the article he was upset by how an Italian citizen of African descent was treated as a leader of a past government which has nothing to do with the actual resolution or history of African colonies at all.
The EU is underfunded. The 2011 crisis can come roaring back at any time. So the EU is not healthy. If the EU is healthy then Greece, Ital, Spain, and Portugal have no monetary problems. We know that is not true.
Charity start at home at works out in ever widening circles. Souther Europe, Souther EU is very sick and those monkeys, apes and jackass in the EU parliament want to spend even more money?

I do not want to agree with 75% pr 90% of your posts and then just auto agree. That way I do not have to back track, eat crow or worse.
I am surprised the liberals of your county have not locked you up for disagreeing with them.
After all journalists (I use the term very loosely) and hackers doxed many conservative anonymous posters using a weakness with Gravatar. One of them was even attacked using a letter bomb.
