Daniel R. DePetris, National Interest: The Unspoken Reason Israel Is a Military Superpower: Nuclear Weapons
All we know.
In the early 1950s, Israel was not a powerhouse in the Middle East as it is now. Newly established in 1948 and surrounded by hostile Arab states that would wage war on Israel on numerous occasions until the mid-1970s, Ben-Gurion was concerned that his people would eventually fail to keep up in a conventional arms race with their Arab enemies. Israel, he argued, needed an insurance policy in order to survive in a neighborhood filled with adversaries.
The Iranian nuclear nonproliferation agreement has been the top foreign policy issue throughout Washington for the past two months. Approving or disapproving the deal was the first order of business for the U.S. Congress until the very last day of congressional action under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (September 17). Hours of debate have been conducted on the floors of the House and Senate, both chambers have held roll call votes, and Senate Democrats bonded together to filibuster a motion of disapproval — a resolution that would have prevented President Obama from providing the Iranians sanctions relief.

I'm pretty sure they have multiple types of nukes also, ie. neutron bombs, thermo nukes. etc. Probably warheads also.
Alarm over leaked US database targeting journalists and immigration activists
It's ok if Israel has nukes but no one else Hypocrisy of the west.
Israel is not a superpower, and its place in the region is not due to its nukes. It's because the IDF is far superior to any of its Arab enemies and neighbors, and the Israeli economy is a modern one where people make high value products while the Arabs are either natural resource rentiers or perform low value manufacturing.
There is a reason few people care about Israeli having nuclear weapons. First, Israel was never a signatory to the NPT so it has not broken any treaties and never received technological exchange as part of it. Both Iran and North Korea were or are signatories and suspected of violating their treaty commitments. Second, even its Arab enemies know that the only reason Israel would ever use its nukes in self defense to prevent its destruction. It wouldn't be used as nuclear blackmail or offensively. It's not a threat, only a deterrent. Everyone knows that Iran (and North Korea) intends to be different.
So there is no hypocrisy. One can argue that it would be a better world if nuclear weapons were eliminated entirely, but if so, Israel is far down the priority list of nuclear states that need to draw down their stockpiles.
The real fact is Israel rules the world anf no country dares to challenge it, not even the US. Decisions made in Washington must not infringe Israeli interests otherwise they will not be passed. Even Russia doesn't have the muscle to go against Israel directly although we know Putin for once detest Israel
Israel makes many good weapons. A nuclear umbrella is not enough.
They make a fine tank, The Merkava.
They make aircraft, The Kfir.
They make anti missile systems
They have a very good reserve system.
They actually have an economy.
I remember going to Israel we offloaded farm tractors
I remember going to a Muslim country. We took wheat (handouts).
"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."
That is the difference between Israel and Muslim countries. I saw it.
Israel has a socialist virus like every body politic. So far it has not killed Israel... yet.
But hope and stupidity springs eternal for liberals.
