South Korea And U.S. To End Large-Scale War Games To Promote Nuclear Diplomacy With North Korea

BBC: South Korea and US to end large-scale war games

The US and South Korea have confirmed they will no longer hold large-scale joint military exercises which have always infuriated North Korea.

The alliance's defence chiefs said the decision supported "diplomatic efforts to achieve complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".

A number of exercises were suspended last year after US President Donald Trump met North Korea's Kim Jong-un.

North Korea regards the games as preparation for a military invasion.

The defence ministers from the US and South Korea agreed to end the Foal Eagle and Key Resolve series of exercises in a phone call on Saturday.

President Trump continues his assault on US alliances built in the 1950’s to deter the Soviet Union. In many cases those alliances are useless in the coming ideological, technical and military competition with China.

28,000 US troops in South Korea would be incapacitated immediately in a USA-China confrontation. Either they would face a heavy missile attack and be destroyed or China threatens South Korea to immobilize all US forces in South Korea or face attack. The USA needs it forces mobile across the Pacific, not penned in like cattle led to slaughter.

And this argument that readiness is so gravely affected by scaling down the war games... smeeshhh.. it's not like they forget instantly how to drop bombs and deliver tanks. THINK!

It does however a) save money, b) give our troops a bit of a breather, c) relax the atmosphere - i.e. promote peace -- can we all agree that this is something good, please? It's not like Trump said "we shall never ever have these trainings again" .. No. It's a temporary break so both sides can move forward in peace discussions ffs. Would you agree on unilateral peace if one side flies nuclear bombers over your territory (or inches from it)? Of course not. This is the insanity of our media. THINK for yourself, and listen to real experts, not partisan hacks who want our president to fail, no matter what it means to you, the tax payer/soldier

If a non-partisan general would really think there's grave danger in stopping these large scale drills for a few months, then ok, lets have that discussion. but do not turn off your brain like the parrot here, it will only lead to , well, insanity, that's what Fred and the Democrats have become in my eyes - a poster-child for insanity.

d) it will save money (not the hundreds of millions/year, but certainly tons of millions)

e) it is actually good for the environment -- hey AOC, wouldn't you be for that you bird brain? :) think of all the cargo and bomber planes and jets flying out from Guam - it's several thousand miles to North Korea -- and these machines are gas guzzlers, much worse than commercial air planes

f) it saves animals from being exploded to bits and pieces just because we humans can't get our act together and have peace.. instead we need to drop hundreds/thousands of bombs in training every freaking year

g) Less bombs dropped during training also means we can increase our stockpile, in case a real war happens.

But oh no, on CNN it's like "putin is winning", "Kim is winning" and "Obama's nobel peace prize was totally deserved"

Also, CNN spent 8min on the North Korea summit, and 2hrs on Cohen.

THINK!

Please stop insulting me. I served in Korea during the war. You did shit.

Thank you for your service, Fred.

But, respectfully, I will speak whenever I please. And you and I have several years history, and your insanity and profanity is well documented in this blog.

And PS Fred, my little parrot, I rarely attack you personally. In fact I've defended you several times in this blog-eg just lately pushing back against worse nicknames for you. The reason why I call you out is because of your hypocrisy - often initiating profanity yourself, and - much more importantly - blindly pushing out and subscribing to a left wing narrative that divides this nation. As you act as a distributor of the left wing media, often posting dozens of links here - you and your points are a legitimate target. It is your lack of intellectual capacity and lack of independent thinking that makes you dangerous to democracy. You blindly blab/repeat whatever you are told. Never think got yourself. It is one of the lowest and most dangerous qualities I can think of in a human being. On top, you love smearing the character of our president, while you in fact have operated a smut website for years. The hypocrisy in that. I'm just calling you out, Fred. Now I know it's not pleasant, but this is by design..otherwise I fear I'll never be able to wake you up, and honestly I still hope you're not an entirely lost cause. I just cannot sit idly by while you spend your last years living a lie

I think that's a bad idea. Metallica said it best, to preserve the peace, prepare for war. No good can come from not practicing mobilizing to stop a invasion.

I agree that it does no harm to skip the full scale training for a while. They must think that despite the summits failure, there is still a chance for peace. They are much closer now to peace in Korea, hen they were before President Trump initiated a new approach to North Korea. A good next step might be to formally end the Korean War.

No good? Might want to check the points above. Quite a few convincing points.
