Going to Dharfur to help starving enslaved Muslims would have been compassionate and shown empathy.
It would also be dumb. The Janjaweed would not stop enslaving so conflict with any soldiers protecting civilians or food distribution is guaranteed. The UN resolution would be such that you would have 1/2 a fig lead that the Chinese or Russians can rip away at any time.
