The Chinese soldiers look stupid/ridiculous gawking away at US Presidents as they review the line. A platoon of children staring, making faces.

You are suppose to look into the distance. Each and every soldier is not going to make eye contact. If they swivel their head to look at the reviewers, they will have a bad day. At least that is what I remember.
