Washington Free Beacon: Trump Administration Approves Sale of F-16s to Taiwan

Jet export reverses Obama, Bush appeasement of China.

The Trump administration has approved the sale of dozens of new F-16 jet fighters to Taiwan, the first major warplane sale to the island state in nearly 30 years.

The interagency decision, to be announced in the near future, authorized the sale of up to 66 F-16V jet fighters at an estimated cost of $13 billion, according to administration officials familiar with internal discussions.

The jets are among several new weapons systems, including missiles, that are part of the administration's latest arms sale to Taiwan, a key U.S. partner in the Asia Pacific region.

WNU Editor: This is a big order. I know the sale is under review .... Taiwan could receive new F-16V jets as soon as 2020 (Taiwan News). More here .... Taiwan Mulls F-16 Viper Fighter Purchase From the US (The Diplomat). But it looks like someone has given the heads up to Bill Gertz that it is a done deal. No response from China, but once this decision is official, their response is going to be one of condemnation and threats.

Oh they knew this was coming after their continued meddling in the North Korea business.

We're edging closer to war.

China soon must decide to either risk all out war (that they might win- but more likely will lose -- despite some simulated fights you've seen, the alliance the US has built up is around 100 countries, including many Asian countries that would side with the US because they too have been harassed by china for many years)

Either way, it'd be a loss-loss on both sides in the event of war. And they might think Trump would blink and not risk it. They'd be very wrong. It's not in his nature to back down, that much is clear to anyone who's watched him for years and years.

I hope China will back down. There's a risk they may want to bitchslap a smaller nation soon. To gain much needed combat experience and gain "credibility").. Taiwan is too dangerous to attack, but they might. .my guess though is they won't do nothing now but militarily punish Vietnam soon in a minor conflict (few days, where they go badass on Vietnam, but then stand down)

Vietnam is one of the few countries that currently is not an ally of the US...but they're very US friendly and hate the Chinese. So Pompeos best move is to Form an alliance with them. The Trump administration is probably already working on it anyways

If war comes it defiently won't be during trumps presidency.

I'd say the way to stave off war is to make it too costly/consequential for your enemies to wage it against you. 66 new state of the art F-16's for Taiwan is a good step in that direction.

Great News! However, political parties in Taiwan have me worried, the Chinese supported party gained a lot of seats in the last election.

Arming future Chinese slaves, you say? Hmm maybe. I don't know. I feel if the Taiwanese people want to be free we should help them. Living under Chinese rule will be horrible to freedom everywhere. Just think about what they'd do if they at peace time already put one million Muslims in reeducation camps because their one party system doesn't tolerate organised religion (due to their fear of power religious groups can hold to their own rule which they demand to be 100%...Just think of this madness)
