China is arming its surface warships with supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles with far greater range than the Cold War-era subsonic missiles the US Navy has in its arsenal.
The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy's advanced Type 052 and Type 055 destroyers carry YJ-18 cruise missiles with an operational range that extends out to 540 kilometers.

Business insider is missing a few things.
The Japanese had better torpedoes on WW2. They still lost.
Germans used bows for hunting and not for warfare so much. So they knew of thew bow ,m but declined to use it.
Many historians have pointed out that it is a miracle that they won battles but they did. And took over 1/2 a continent. Other historians have pointed out the battles were not set piece affairs but confused clashes in forest. Range does not always win.
On water, range and accuracy is everything.
