At the last minute the Chinese Communist Party chief Xi Jinping vetoed the trade deal with the United States, after his representatives had negotiated and agreed to it. Xi claimed that he will take the responsibility for ‘all possible consequences.’ This left President Trump no choice but to impose higher tariffs on some Chinese imports.
This battle over trade marks only the early rounds of the US struggle with China. China’s economic success was achieved in large measure by taking advantage of the working people of both China and the US. It was made possible because the US allowed it to enter the world’s free trade system.

He will soon fall sick or gets investigated for "corruption"... they play the same games we play over here, just deadlier ..but before Xi is gone he is most dangerous. He will either quickly change or quickly double down. Your guess is as good as mine but I don't think he's got the nerve to do it ultimately.

Suppose Xi Jinping's gone. What makes you think China under a different leader would just fall in line and support the US position in international politics?
This is why I support the Tariffs until a solution is worked out, including S China Sea, NK and trade.

I have seen reports that have called into question Xi's "health." If he is perceived to be the problem, perhaps he will be sent into "retirement."
Essentially the current trade deal the US is willing to make as far as I can tell would allow China to lock in their gains while allowing the US some measure of face saving. Yet Xi and his team can't or won't accept this. Those who get to greedy as China under Xi appears to be risk losing everything.
I don't agree with this analysis at all, and surprised that the WNU Editor, who is suppose to be well knowledgeable when it comes to chinese politics, thinks China is operating with a one-man policy here.
China does what China always does. Its never been pro US, and while Xi Jinping is certainly a far bolder leader that China has had in many decades, it doesn't change the fact that his current policies and views are, for the majority, in-line with the ruling party.
This analysis tries to oversimplify the chinese policies against western powers like the US by putting it all on the shoulders of one man.
That right there, is foolish, and a silly notion.
