China Says Trade Talks Can’t Continue Unless U.S. Reverses Recent Trade Decisions

CNBC: China says trade talks can’t continue unless US addresses its ‘wrong actions’

* President Trump announced earlier this month that tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods would increase to 25% from 10% on May 10.
* In the last two weeks, his administration also put Chinese telecom giant Huawei on a blacklist that prevents it from buying from American companies without U.S. government permission.
* Nearly three-fourths of respondents to a joint survey by the American Chambers of Commerce in Shanghai and Beijing said the latest round of U.S. tariffs and planned counter-tariffs from China are negatively affecting their businesses.

The latest U.S. actions on trade are preventing negotiations with Beijing from proceeding, China’s Commerce Ministry said Thursday.

“If the U.S. would like to keep on negotiating it should, with sincerity, adjust its wrong actions. Only then can talks continue,” Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Gao Feng said Thursday in Mandarin, according to a CNBC translation.

"Unless US reverses recent trade decisions..." to express another way "unless the US capitulates and surrenders to the manifest magnificence of China." Essentially, at this point, I agree. "Keep up the pressure!" This clearly seems to have China rattled, however, such a is fraught with risk. Trump is trying to make America a great country. In order to be great whether this applies to a person or a country, a certain degree of risk taking will be required.

For sure B. Keep in mind, what Trump has acknowledged with his "make America great again" motto, is that America is not great, if it ever was, actually.

Also, you should also understand that sometimes that risk taking means to reach out a helping hand when it is needed, not just a hand with a gun in it.

Making illegal war, as in doing the same old stuff, on Iran will not make America "great" in the hearts and minds of anyone intelligent. The world knows, and many in the USA also, that it is just another Iraq II con in the making, only this time against a target with some ability to respond, if not to the homeland than to a cherished ally.

But, as to achieving greatness, before taking any degree of risk, what is needed is a definition of what "great" is. Otherwise, How do you know what to aim for, and how do you recognize success when it is achieved? In this it is important to have a well defined objective, something that has been missing if you follow the various and numerous failed wars and incursions made since WW II. If not you are at risk of being tagged with America, is a great failure.

That is important if you want to be "great" but most of all, you have to remember that no country is able to declare itself "great" unless the rest of the countries in the world have done so first. Otherwise declared greatness will be what it always has been, a sham.

Great definition:

1. of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average.
"the article was of great interest"

synonyms: considerable, substantial, pronounced, sizeable, significant, appreciable, serious, exceptional, inordinate, extraordinary, special More

2. of ability, quality, or eminence considerably above the normal or average.

Great can be in terms of country size, population GDP, scientific achievement, culture adopted by others, etc.

Someone spent 5 paragraphs bloviating about how the country that won WW2, etc is not great. That guy has issues or an agenda.

Stick with the 3 dots (ellipsis) place holder

So you define greatness in terms of military power? Poor you.

In terms of war greatness, it might have been "great" if the USA has come into the war much earlier and not financed the Nazi movement quite so much beforehand.

I appreciate you having read my post but from an intellectual perspective, you are one shade of black.

Bob,

I gave 6 indices, 5 by category and one by example. Now I know logic,m facts, reality are not your strong suits so let us go over this in detail and spoon feed it to you like we were spoon feeding Gerbers to a baby.

Military power has to count. If not the NAZIS would have conquered France, re-written history (the victors write history or so the saying goes). Without the military power of the USA and USSR, France's great cultural achievements would have been erased.

I gave 6 indices, you chose to display your peacock feathers over one. The Mongols were a military power. One in every seven males in Asia is of Mongol descent. In Darwinian terms that is great. Not that I would agree with that is how life ought to be, but I recognize the Darwinian perspective.

I was listing what I thought was a fairly complete list without assigning value judgment. You could not help your self and reflexively went full SJW and preened giving us a full virtue signaling display.

MYTH NO. 1
Adolf Hitler was bankrolled by big corporate donors.

If the arch liberal and Leftwing Washington Post won't give you any love Bob you are SOL.

Remember your Uncle Joe funded the NAZIs. He backed them to the hilt. Even after the artillery was firing into Mother Russia, your Uncle Joe was sending trains to Germany.

Youssef Zaghba has been linked to Tablighi Jamaat, an Islamic sect behind many mega-mosque proposals and linked to the 7/7 terrorists."

Yuppers. Same people who complain against "saudi arabian jihadists" are out to get people, who complain about Saudi Mega mosques.
