Newsweek: Could U.S. Defeat Iran’s Navy? This Exercise Shows War Would Not Be Easy
The United States is widely cited as the world's foremost military power, but the country has a spotty record when it comes to asymmetrical warfare. Now-infamous war games conducted nearly 17 years ago showed a maritime matchup against tactics similar to those of Iran would likely prove extremely deadly for the Navy.
A new wave of tensions between longtime foes Washington and Tehran was set off by alleged reports of Iran pursuing new missile activity in the region, just as it prepared to commemorate the U.S.' unilateral pullout from a 2015 nuclear deal by stepping back from some of its own commitments to the historic agreement. Among these alleged threats were satellite imagery purporting to show small traditional sailing vessels known as dhows being fitted with cruise missiles.

WNU Editor: Iran has a lot of missiles that can cause a lot of damage .... Iran missile photos grant US new picture of threat in Arabian Gulf (The National). Bottom line .... the U.S. Navy will persevere, but expect a lot of casualties.

Iran would only stand a chance in a first strike surprise attack, after that everything they own that floats better be hidden away or it will be destroyed.
yes
‘I get the same intel:’ Iran threat exaggerated by GOP hawks, Rep. Gallego says
Exactly, they can destroy Iran with goi g near the majority of its missiles why do people think a carrier will drop anchor in the straight ffs

Good link squirrel!

It lead to this.

I wonder if squirrel knows of the GIGO principle?
Anyhoo the article is a Washington Post brainwash I mean brain cleanse. Squirrel went to the temple/Washington Post confessed xer's sins and received absolution. Xer does not have one impure thought and the bonus is xer knows the truth!
I suppose is if your claim to fame is manning a phone and you are otherwise ignorant of much of history, you would believe the Posts's headline.
Just think about it squirrel has a "get away from reality free" card or so squirrel believes. This is nothing like the 1980s when the Iranian and US navies routinely fired on one another and a civilian airliner was shot down in a kinetic zone. In the 1980s the Ajr dumped contact mines into the Gulf and now the Iranians are using limpet mines. "Contact" and "Limpet" are different words, so it is not the same thing! Get it! So when someone worries about the proxy war hotting up squirrel can scoff and them and rightfully so!
"Contact" DNE "limpet"
The Post and a congress critter told squirrel so.
Squirrel manned a desk. squirrel has never sailed past a missile batteries that travel 500 to 800 mph and only need to cross 7 miles, while carrying 1/2 to 1 ton warhead. Squirrel is not smart enough to use a calculator to punch in the numbers and figure out the flight time. Squirrel's mommy would have to do it for squirrel.
Squirrel why do you suppose the Navy rented the Hercules? To play patty cake with the boghammers of the Iranian Navy?
"The Middle East Force decided to convert two oil service barges, Hercules and Wimbrown VII, "
It is not like the media has never mentioned the barges and the mission. They mentioned it and at the turn of the century the media's politics has gotten more radical so now they buried that the news. There was a recent magazine article on the barges this year, but no one who would read The Atlantic, watch CNN, or peruse the Washington Post would be caught reading it.
Nothing has changed. The fighting has always been there since then 1980s with troughs and peaks. This peak may be more like a tsunami. Iran is hurting almost like Venezuela.

"Exactly, they can destroy Iran with going near the majority of its missiles why do people think a carrier will drop anchor in the straight ffs"
They will fly from Whiteman, Diego Garcia, a carrier, or Gulf states use stand off weapons and destroy the Iranian ship threat.
There is a reason so much is put on stand off capability. Then they will rinse and repeat walking all the way in until some IRGC or protesters drag the Ayatollahs out of their plush commands.
If the Ayatollahs think this is the end, they will activate Hezbollah in New Jersey, New York, and along the southern border.
anon=moron: oujtline so you can read an article that is behind a paywall that you do not get because you are cheap fuck and think only Fox is truthiness...Fact: CNN and NY Times ok when they post stuff here but if you care not for what is said then like master Trump says: it is fake..that and you are the fakes
Their navy wouldn't last 5 minutes against the US military. We went thru this before in the 80's and the Iranian navy got smoked then too.
9:41 AM
No one said anything about a paywall.
Washington Post and NYT allows 5 articles to be read a month before the paywall kicks in.
The problem wasn't a paywall, but a bad link by squirrel. Outline.com is a service that gives a person accounts. We cannot see what is in squirrel's account. Squirrel was dumb enough to link an article routed to his outline.comn account thinking that we could see it too.
Now, that is dumb.
Have not been to Fox News in 2 to 4 weeks. I have been to CNN, NYT and WaPo to 100 times more often.
9:41 admit it, You have been huffing those unicorn farts again haven't yuh.
Nick,
Liked the Delaware pic.
Only the war does not solve the problems, and there must be a way to consult and establish peace and enforce the language with each other.
