When I was stationed in China in the 1980s, I said to my Chinese hosts the following when I was asked on what were my impressions of the country.
.... "China's culture is one of the oldest in the world, steeped in history and tradition. But politically, China is one of the youngest and most immature countries in the world. Especially when compared to Europe and to countries like the U.S./Canada/Australia/etc..
I said that comment over 30 years ago, and it pains me to say that the same can be said today. China's view of the world and how this view is being translated into foreign policy and foreign relations may give some short term benefits to Beijing today, but in the long term it is only going to alienate China from the rest of the world. No one likes an arrogant bully, and no one wants to deal with someone who acts vindictive when they do not get their way. Unfortunately, that is the China of today.

China reminds me of early Nazi Germany -- an immature, expanding, vindictive, rapidly militarizing, self-/race-obsessed nation.

+ China's Xi has been sworn in as emperor for life, AND
+ 2 years ago the army itself was also sworn to him personally - just like what Hitler did. And on top, he told them during that process "not to fear death".. yeah but whatever, CNN told us to bow to them for 20 years / and still take a lot of ad money from them
That's the thing that pisses me off about CNN constantly.. wrong on the big picture over and over and over and over again. Bunch of losers got everything from the election wrong, to understanding what Trump actually is all about (he was for fairer deals with China for decades(!) all on youtube for those of you who want to 'get him' without CNN's bias, I'm so sick of how they treat the one guy who actually 'could go to China' like Nixon did. Imagine Obama's leading from behind approach, the embarassing pivot to Asia etc.. and I was a democrat back then, but when I saw how much CNN kitty-gloved him and how they treat Trump, and how they divide this nation and stop this president on delivering on the China Trade deal, it is just so suspect.. they took so much Ad money from China and are deeply embedded with the DNC - all they do is so anti-American, race-card, sex-card, gender-craziness and politically correctness focused, what could weaken a society more and bring them more to conflict with one another than keep playing these horrible cards and accusations - calling half the nation racist or sexists.. it's unbelievable.. if China or Russia would want to hurt the U.S. they would do it through academia and media - just as they do in Europe -- and their influence is growing and the US left is helping them in the USA just like the European left is getting hypnotised by this political 'always be correct and don't allow any human mistakes' nightmare that we now too are creating over here.. this is all being pushed on us by someone and causes mass issues in our cultures and countries over here, just like CNN does in the US.. everyone gets played against everyone and focus lies no longer on meritocracy but victimhood status.. target is white people, victims are everyone else. No matter if Asians killed more than white people did. White people are the problem. No matter if we actually do have many, many more Isalamist terrorists, Don Lemon tells us white people are the problem. And on and on it goes. Same with women.. who's the problem? White male. Toxic, all of them!.. Where does this come from? It's orchestrated culture, race, gender and class warfare in my opinion. And much of it goes to CNN and some to MSNBC and several other news outlets that have propagated so much fake news over the last 2 years it is incredible what's going on.. *gets popcorn*
Oh and I also forgot to mention (the list is so long):
+ China also has concentration camps - they call them re-education for now.. so nice to be re-educated. A million Muslims, right now, are in "re-education camps", and the silence of the UN is deafening.
+ China has stolen Trillions (> xx,000,000,000,000.00 !!!!!!) from other nations, mostly US and Europe. But also from Asian nations. This is beyond competition. They are and have been conducting economic warfare against us and are not going to change until any other option is not viable. Trillions and the race to control Earth is at stake here.. and if you think the US thinks they are "the chosen people", "Number 1", "blessed by God", and are so lame and opinionated because they believe in Democracy and "et pluribus unum" (well, Republicans still know what that means), wait and listen to how Xi speaks about the Chinese and which particular form of Chinese he uses and what HE is opinionated.
+ China almost went to war with Vietnam a couple years back over an oil platform the Vietnamese had in disputed waters. The Vietnamese, fully knowing that they would be smashed because China is looking for the right sized war and Vietnam - on many levels - would fit that bill (but on others not, having been to Vietnam many times I can tell you they hate the Chinese and would fight very very hard, and likely win - with international help / protection - any prolonged war, with nuclear war excepted, but if China were to do that, they would very much regret it)
+ China's military spending is a secret, but looking at the speed of their development (some stolen, some done through own research - do not underestimate your enemy, it is foolish) it is fair to assume they have spent a massive amount of their GDP. My best guess is that they spent twice as much than what they tell us. There are a lot of buildings in China that are empty though - including many skyscrapers, we are talking about thousands(!) of them .. and with the now shrinking (not stagnating, shrinking!) economy the housing bubble I've mentioned a few times here previously, will now either come quicker, or they have to pump yet more money into the market to keep the show going.
+ As we all know, and have read here before (WNU posted satellite data confirming a way back) China's GDP too has been inflated, means they played a hot and rough game: All in, and part of it is covert and part of it is show.. Chinese are very good in illusions.. it is not only part of their rich culture (from story telling to theater to warfare, illusion and faking is a major, major component - you will still see that today, when you look behind counters in new 5 star hotels ;_). All of this has been taken into account - and believe has, knowing Trump and how he talked in depth and knowledge about the Chinese threat 20-25 years ago. I'm suspecting they (the Chinese) feel the heat and are a bit panicked. They need a massive change in the trajectory.. that means getting rid of Trump (a hack, propagated through Media, CNN etc will help, sheeplings/parrots too will cheer and forget the big picture here - the world as we know it is literally at stake while Don Lemon tells you white people are the problem and you go cheer this race baiter on :))), or Hillary (gender baiter/gender card player'vote for her' 'glass ceiling' 'men are sexist and didn't vote for me') tells you 'civility can be restored when we are back in power' and you cheer.. or they scream at their top of their lungs (our women again) how 'due process should be abandoned' and how 'toxic white male' are the problem.. .this is INSANE. It must be orchestrated :) half kidding, because jokes are still allowed until the P/C police will come to get us all for making any joke about anything (except white males, of course) ;-) seeeeee, I did it again.. try it, feels liberating - Google is of course selling all our data to China, but that's cool, because Google "doesn't do evil, man, they are from California, dude, the assholes and deplorables are all in the mid West and fucking fly over states, those crackers with the guns and bibles, fucking assholes!" ;-)
So yeah, enjoy a PC culture nightmare driven by race, sex and other diversionary tactics used and motivated by some thing connected to an adversary (China, Russia, who the f knows) and the DNC, or vote Trump. ;0 Half joking, but he's certainly our best chance and I don't care about bathroom stalls and calling white people "entitled" or "racist", or men "toxic" or "mansplaning" all the time for just disagreeing. It's fucking weird and rude and the left is cheering. Et pluribus unum. We either mean it or our adversaries (Russia AND - and (!) China, THEY took the trillions, THEY are 1.6bn strong, THEY openly said they wanted to outrank the US, get that right, CNN) win.

+ China broke its promise on Hong Kong - when England gave back Hong Kong, China promised to keep it treated more openly, fairly to what they are used after being part of England. Ask the abducted (and likely tortured) book dealers who were critical of Xi, how they feel now. You can - and most are - critical of our parties, and won't get abducted or disappear for a few weeks like that. Even though what's going on @ Roger Stone and Manafort looks a bit shady tbh, as they both committed white collar crimes that so, so many have committed in Washington and you don't see Democrats being pulled out of bed by a fully armed SWAT Team (and CNN randomly being there, while claiming they are dangerous criminals and secrecy is necessary) at 6am in the morning.. and then put them into solitary confinment at age >60. wtf?

+ China's currency manipulation and claiming "developing country" status while being about to overtake the US in many areas - well, not since Trump took office, but whatever, that's only a small accomplishment according to CNN and much can be accredited to Obama :D :D :D Remember the pivot to Asia under him? THAT brought us the hyper militarisation and artificial islands in the South China sea. They started under him -- and to pivot to Asia - he sequesters the military and guts big ticket spending which is EXACTLY what the next war will require. (Ok, that was originally Rumsfeld plan - but at the beginning of the war on Terror it was justified, but short-sighted to keep it for so long.. should have been changed about 1-2 years in under Obama, but he put re-election first, as this was a campaign promise (to sequester the military, which is fine and good at some point, but not now while China is clearly up to something)

I think the leaders are an unacceptably pushy bunch. Their arrogance was demonstrated the first time we had meetings with them in 1853 or so. And I'd like to be able to purchase more US made products.

Roger - buying US products. I'm down with that (and I'm in Europe hehe, until my own "collection of states" is a bit fairer to our American friends - I honestly do not know what our "leaders" are thinking in palling up with Putin -- Merkel was the biggest loud mouth in Europe about Trump -- and she was buddy buddy with Obama too -- but it is HER who made the oil deal with Putin just now. It is HER immigration politics that destabilized much of Europe (Brexit came after they saw what she did/unplanned immigration did to much of Europe, especially Germany and France.. Germany let in 1 Million people - and her only plan was "wir schaffen das" - meaning literally translated "we can do it".. well, the murder and rape victims didn't like it too much, and our media too was white washed as if nothing happened).. Merkel might go down as the one politician who oversaw the rupture of Europe - yes under Teresa May (UK) too, another stellar example of the female politicians club who vastly underperforms world wide, if I may say so.. but ohhh no, I cannot criticize what's obvious to everyone, because why? It's sexist! So anything goes now. Black is White. White is Black. Lies are Truths and Efficiency / Productivity takes second place to a FALSE political correctness (it is not politically correct to always blame men, when you underperform like crazy, and make everyone miserable with your failed politics and cultural warfare and gender politics and pronoun politics and weakness where it matters: The big picture. We are at cultural war internally AND externally under attack by China and Russia. We must unite internally to take on our foes externally, they play to divide us and Merkel seems to be very eager to help - in Germany and Europe)
PS Roger, By having the tariffs on Chinese goods, Trump actually makes US products more competitive - levels the playing field so to speak - and that will lead to more supply and demand (people want to buy American, it's just not so abundantly available)
Supply and demand is a great concept if properly exploited.
The problem is when there is lots of demand and no money the people incur debt, upon debt, sometimes impossible to repay so they refinance, and start fresh buying on the card(s).
It is a vicious downward cycle that can only be stopped with massive right offs and/or increased employment that takes a decade to re-create, assuming there is a will among the people with money, and government to get that ball rolling.
It comes down to the large corporations and where they believe they can make the most money. The trend these days is to reward them with tax rebates even when the bulk of their employees live and work offshore.
So far there has been no move in government to "bring back the jobs".
