Reuters: Americans' support for impeaching Trump rises: Reuters/Ipsos poll
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The number of Americans who said President Donald Trump should be impeached rose 5 percentage points to 45 percent since mid-April, while more than half said multiple congressional probes of Trump interfered with important government business, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday.
The opinion poll, conducted on Monday, did not make clear whether investigation-fatigued Americans wanted House of Representatives Democrats to pull back on their probes or press forward aggressively and just get impeachment over with.

Gallup: Less Than Half in U.S. Would Vote for a Socialist for President
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Less than half of Americans (47%) say they would vote for a qualified presidential candidate who is a socialist -- the same percentage Gallup found in 2015. A socialist candidate is the only one among a dozen hypothetical candidates about whom a minority of Americans say they are willing to give their vote.

It's human nature to have an incredibly short memory.
USSR crashed 30 years ago. Who remember that? People who are now 40 was 10 at this time and never know about the cold war and why.
It's not like what most of them mean by socialism has any relation to socialism. Republican propaganda has convinced a lot of Americans that Obama and the Clintons are socialists. The ones who don't accept that are still liable to take Bernie "Denmark" Sanders at his word as being a socialist. That's probably who they have in mind - that or someone with similar ideas, which of course only amount to a limited patching up of capitalism rather than trying to do away with it.
Good point Daniel. There are a lot of people who today oppose any form of what they think is socialism when actually it is charity. That is likely because they do not want to have to contribute to helping the downtrodden, but they fail to realize how quickly they, or, people close to them can become downtrodden.

He was famous for many years because when a huge snowstorm dumped lots of snow on the streets, and the people complained that nothing was being done to remove it, he declared: God put it there. I'll help you out squirrel, the key word is "once".
So half the people polled who likely have no need of any sort of social assistance, or at least not yet, were against socialism (presumably in any form and likely because they saw themselves paying for it).
The bulk of those for it are probably already depending on some form of social assistance and/or are wealthy but responsible enough to recognize the need to help those not so fortunate as they are.
I think a more appropriate question, would be, "Would you support a government who promised and delivered accordingly on inprovments in the country/economy such that there was almost full employment eliminating the need for masses of people to be on some form of social assist?"
As a matter of interest though, there are not going to be any return of jobs from overseas nor will there be any serious numbers of jobs created without a major, no, a drastic change in government morality both domestically and internationally.
Sounds more like a bible thumping capitalist, they would say figure it out, a socialist would of had the government take care of it.
