Business Insider: The Marine Corps just flexed its F-35B with the stealth fighter's first 'elephant walk'
* The Marine Corps showed off its variant of the F-35 with the aircraft's first "elephant walk" exercise in South Carolina earlier this month.
* A successful "elephant walk" with the unit's 20 F-35Bs "affirms the squadron's commitment to achieving and sustaining the highest level of readiness," the Corps said.
On May 1, 2019, Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron (VMFAT) 501 conducted a readiness exercise with of 20 F-35B Lightning II aircraft aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina.
"The safe launch and recovery of the aircraft, affirms the squadron's commitment to achieving and sustaining the highest level of readiness in order to train the next generation of F-35B pilots from the U.S. Marine Corps and partner nations," said the USMC in a photo caption to the mass drills.

I've yet to understand why this massing of targets is such a big deal.
I would think, after Pearl Harbor and current armaments that arrive on the target in blinks of an eye that these displays would have been relegated to the history books.
Nope.
It's a readiness exercise and PR stunt. I also think it's a great training exercise.
