Business Insider: The House Intelligence Committee made a criminal referral for Trump adviser Erik Prince to the DOJ
* The House Intelligence Committee formally referred Erik Prince, a former informal adviser to President Donald Trump's campaign, to the Justice Department for criminal investigation on Tuesday.
* House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff asked Attorney General William Barr to investigate whether Prince gave false testimony to the panel in November 2017.
* Schiff said the committee identified at least six categories of "materially false" statements Prince made about two meetings: one that took place in the Seychelles in January 2017, and another that took place at Trump Tower in August 2016.
The House Intelligence Committee formally referred Erik Prince, a businessman and informal adviser to President Donald Trump's campaign, to the Justice Department for a criminal investigation on Tuesday.
Prince is the former head of the military contracting firm Blackwater USA, which is now known as Academi. He is also the brother of Betsy DeVos, the Secretary of Education.
In a letter to Attorney General William Barr, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff asked the department to investigate Prince for giving false testimony to the panel when he appeared for a hearing in November 2017 as part of its investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 US election.

WNU Editor: This is the beginning of a war between Democrats and Republicans in making criminal referrals to the Justice Department. In the case of the Republicans, they have already hinted that Fusion GPS executives who were involved in the Steele Dossier with the Hillary Clinton campaign will be criminally referred to the Justice Department.

I agree with your analysis, but Prince isn't exactly a Republican nor have his activities been in the interest of partisan politics like Fusion GPS. His "advisorship" to Trump was always about pitching his privatization plans, and while he may have got less traction with a Democrat president he would've been pushing his "advice" on them just as much.
Prince is always at risk of stuff like this happening due to the nature of his business, and I'm sure that's why he's decentralized his private life from the US as much as possible. He can hang out in the Emirates and let the lawyers fix everything while in the meantime his company continues to rake in juicy security contracts from our far less judiciary "allies".
He lied to Congress. that is a criminal offense. plain and simple.
Clapper and now Barr have lied to a Congressional Committee.
Clapper not only lied but bragged about it on record and zip, nada, no charge. Why? Because he was an intelligence head who likely had enough dope on all the members, or at least the most important ones, of Congress so he got a pass.
It will be the same with Barr.
Prince may or may not have such information but it is likely he has enough international friends and business associates, so-called allies, that will speak for him and the prospect of a charge will fade away, maybe. They really do need to burn someone important every so often, you know to look honest.
If a normal meaning lesser, US citizen were to lie to a Congressional Committee he/she would get his/her ass burned.
You don't think they're looking for someone to burn? When both sides finally find someone they can agree on it's going to be a spectacle. Imagine if Brett Kavanaugh didn't have one side committed to his defense. He's be in jail for raping how many people?
With Prince we again have the fact of no underlying crime. The entire investigation was based on a false accusation (Russian Collusion). That's why there's no case for obstruction and a very tough case in any perjury charge.
The politics are pretty clear here. Prince being the brother of a Trump Cabinet official is just too sweet a target.
Its the continued weaponization of the criminal process by Dems. The referral should be denied out of hand.
Prince's testimony has come under scrutiny after the release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report, which raised questions about Prince's meeting with a high-ranking Russian official during the Trump transition.
In a letter to Attorney General William Barr referring Prince, Schiff cited six instances from Prince's testimony that he said were contradicted by the Mueller report.
"The report reveals that Mr. Prince's testimony before the committee was replete with manifest and substantial falsehoods that materially impaired the committee's investigation," Schiff wrote in the letter.
"Schiff cited"...
anon
yes. he is on that oversight group and thus he was cited. so what? dismiss the charges because of that?
Adam “Undoubtedly there is collusion” Schiff?
Let's be honest: Adam is doing nothing but sending the info on; he is not prosecuting etc. and the legal system takes over at that point...if you had your way, any non GOP allied person can not ever send anyone on to the Attn General (Barr) for possible trial...sorry but legal system does not work that way in our nation...yet.
