Washington Examiner: Dianne Feinstein dined with Iranian foreign minister as US feud with Tehran escalated
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a top member of the minority party in the upper chamber, met recently with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at a time of escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The two had dinner around the end of last month when Zarif was visiting the U.S., sources told Politico.
Feinstein's team said the dinner was designed to update the senator on the situation between the U.S. and Iran and was "arranged in consultation with the State Department." A State Department official said the agency did not ask the California Democrat to meet with Zarif, but did not deny discussions had taken place.

As long as it's Feinstein it's okay. I didn't know she was in charge of foreign policy.
She is not in charge nor is she making policy. He was here. That is called courtesy...Rudy is where this week?
How do you know she was only being courteous and not talking or making foreign policy? Regardless of where Rudy is he can (if so charged by the President) as a member of the administration talk about or make foreign policy.
It makes sense for a member of Congress to talk face to face with a member of the next enemy hopefully to get a confirming, or otherwise, impression of what the country is being told about what is going on.
