Newsweek: U.S. Special Forces School Publishes New Guide for Overthrowing Foreign Governments

The official school of the United States' Special Operations Command has published a new paper detailing a decades-long history of Pentagon-backed interference around the world, hoping to provide insight on how best to approach such efforts in the present and future.

The 250-page study, "Support to Resistance: Strategic Purpose and Effectiveness," was compiled by Army Special Forces veteran Will Irwin and published earlier this week by the official Joint Special Operations University, where he was a resident senior fellow. Though the report notes that its views "are entirely those of the author," its findings present a comprehensive look at how the U.S. has supported efforts to pressure, undermine and overthrow foreign governments.

Venezuela is on the ropes.

Iran has mass protests and the men in dirty robes are scared.

Cuba is rationing, because ... well because socialism works until you run out of other people's money and Cuba has run out of Venezuelan money.

So it is working out well.

Chudley, I never knew you had a man crush on Maduro.

Yeah dude! Provide an example or two where sanctions alone, not mass popular movements overthrew an existing regime.

It's been 40 years since the revolution; the regime is resilient and still retains widespread support after years of sanctions and bullying. The IRGC and basij aren't going to turn on Rouhani. Yeah, no, float an occasional CSG up the straits and the regime will fall! HA!

The only reason attention has shifted to Iran is the pathetic failure of the attempt at regime change in Venezuela. SAD!!!!!!

All America has got is bluster and threats, nobody gives a crap anymore.

We're Americans and we don't like you!

The Americans never sent any units to effect regime change. If they had, Maduro would be in Havana.

10:39 could name the American unit that was engaged in combat to effect regime change.

Maybe 10:39 dude can explain why Venezuelan THE REGIME has had negative growth for over 5 years and double digit negative growth for the last year?

Cuba and Nicaragua cannot carry Venezuela. Chavez died and his daughters have done looted Venezuela. Chavez's friend Correa is out of power in Ecuador. You forgot Ecuador?

China can buy the little oil Venezuela produces but it is more expensive to ship it farther to China than to the US. There is also the added expense of the Panama Canal transit. ;)

China is not so much floating Venezuela so much as not cashing in their chips and calling in their IOUs. Debt payments really are not helping Venezuela's current cash flow and that will show in non-repair of infrastructure of the oil field and elsewhere. Basically one totalitarian bastard is telling another totalitarian bastard "It sucks to be you". That is why Maduro wanted to flee, but why Putin and Xi told him to "Enjoy the Suck!"

I've been to war twice in the capacity that my country sent me, which is more than Hunter Biden can say. I am on the hook to go again, if my country so chooses.

Why I comment here is because I believe in the maxim "In time of peace prepare for war", which means if you prepare well enough, you do not have to fight.

You seem to no have learned that lesson as you are obdurate in your ignorance and fascism.

You have 'special' day, Snowflake! Or should I just say flake, when addressing you?
