Is The U.S. Navy Losing In Russia’s Game of Chicken

The incident between the USS Chancellorsville (CG-62) and the Russian frigate Admiral Vinogradov is another indicator of rapidly increasing tension between the United States and Russia. This incident is not the first case of Russia conducting “unsafe and unprofessional” maneuvers and operations against U.S. and Allied forces in international waters. Well, when exceeding (and winning) in virtually every other sphere of competition vs Russia, the US can allow their fool's glory in paint-scrape contests.

The Russians correctly assume that the US will throttle back to avoid a collision with a Russian warship. The US correctly assumes that the Russians are drunk/stupid enough not to care if they collide with an American one.

These encounters are annoying and moronic, but not much else.
