Newsweek: Russia Confirms Military Forces Remain in Venezuela After Donald Trump Said They Were Removed
Russia's officials said the country's military personnel remain in Venezuela, where they are backing leader Nicolas Maduro, even after President Donald Trump assured his Twitter followers that the Russian troops had been withdrawn from the country.
On Twitter Monday, President Trump said Russia had informed him that "they have removed most of their people from Venezuela."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that Russian officials had not been in touch with Trump about the presence of Russian troops in the South American country, and the Russian operatives remain in Venezuela where they are continuing their cooperation with Maduro and his backers.

Wait until summer hits in Venezuela. The Russians will be begging to leave.
Unless we have inside information in real time of which I do not have we cannot "know" for certain what is actually happening but based upon experience, careful analysis from studying multiple sources, and what I might tend to refer as commonsense we can make inferences on what is happening and can ascertain what is going on with a certain degree of accuracy although it won't be perfect because again we do not have access to inside information in real time. With this in mind is the Trump tweet accurate, is the Russian denial accurate, are both false, or is there some degree of truth to each statement?
Based upon experience and the lack of credibility on the part of the US news media and Trump's political opponents I would tend to conclude that Trump's initial tweet is probably the more accurate statement. Furthermore the Russians have to be incredibly embarrassed as do the Chinese that Gaido and the resistance still live. Frankly I would have expected Mr. Gaido to have been arrested or executed by now. The longer the resistance is able to remain alive the tougher this becomes for those in power to maintain their position. I think it highly likely that the Russians and others who support Maduro may be looking for a face saving way out of this right now.
In this case, Trump's tweet may not have been helpful and the media's breathless reaction to it definitely would seem to be unhelpful. I didn't know the Russians actually paid attention to Trump's tweets. I think they pick up the reactions of our news media.
