Reuters: Trump says 'Iran did do it,' as U.S. seeks support on Gulf oil tanker attacks
DUBAI/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Friday blamed Iran for attacks on two oil tankers at the entrance to the Gulf and said it was seeking international consensus about the threat to shipping, despite Tehran denying involvement in the explosions at sea.
Thursday’s attacks raised fears of a confrontation in the vital oil shipping route at a time of increased tension between Iran and the United States over U.S. sanctions and military moves in the Middle East, Tehran’s proxy groups in the region and its nuclear program.
“Iran did do it and you know they did it because you saw the boat,” U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News.

Fucking embarrassing. Fifteen years ago the Bush administration was lambasted from all sides for their cartoonish attempts to start a war with Iraq. But now, despite the spectacular failure that the warhawks forced upon us back then, the Bush era neocons come across like 200 IQ geniuses when compared to the more recent attempts by Trump's "national security advisors" to start this war with Iran.
It's just incredible how bad they've gotten in such a short span of time.
Things like the failed Venezuela coup or the continual trotting out of false flags at the UN (which used to at least be somewhat believable) so far have failed to capture even a tiny minority of the general public.
Half of these advisors are even the same people from the Bush admin! And they're pulling from an old playbook which worked just fine in the past! But they still can't get it right. Perhaps it's not really the fault of the individuals who embarrass us with this crayon-level foreign policy. Maybe the times have changed so much that a new formula for regime change is required. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem like it's going to work unless they start getting more creative with their false flags and assurances that Iran is somehow an existential threat.
At least it's an entertaining show.
