The Guardian: Iran makes 'substantial' nuclear offer in return for US lifting sanctions
* Plan would allow enhanced, permanent nuclear inspections
* Foreign minister: ‘It’s not about photo ops. We want substance’
Iran has offered a deal with the US in which it would formally and permanently accept enhanced inspections of its nuclear programme, in return for the permanent lifting of US sanctions.
The offer was made by the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on a visit to New York. But it is unlikely to be warmly received by the Trump administration, which is currently demanding Iran make a range of sweeping concessions, including cessation of uranium enrichment and support for proxies and allies in the region.
Zarif insisted, however, that his offer was “a substantial move”.
“It’s not about photo ops. We are interested in substance,” he told reporters at the Iranian mission to the UN in New York on Thursday. “There are other substantial moves that can be made.”

WNU Editor: The limitation of nuclear inspections, specifically not being permitted to inspect Iranian military sites suspected of conducting nuclear weapons work, was the #1 problem with the original nuclear deal. Trust but verify are the cornerstones for any nuclear weapons agreement, why the U.S. choose to not push this under the Obama administration is beyond me. As for this new offer, Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif was not specific today on what does he mean about "formally and permanently accepting enhanced inspections of its nuclear program", but if military sites are still off-limits, this is not going to go anywhere. There was also no mention from the Iranian foreign minister on nuclear enrichment, Iran's missile program, nor it's military support of proxies and allies in the region.

Why would we need "ENHANCED" inspections unless the dumb, duplicitous Obama purposefully negotiated a very bad deal full of loopholes?
There is no verification, if you leave loopholes like uninspected nuclear sites.
Iran keeps floating more and k,ore trial balloons. Although they yank them back quickly,, the shear volume is showing that economic sanction are sinking the theocracy fast and Nehemiah Scudder is getting nervous.
Trump is definitely smarter than hapless and mendacious Obama.
You really ought to put aside your animus. Obama PLUS 5 nations...deal with Iran as it is now, with the offer, with the sanctions. Trump has been in office for a few weeks now...get over Obama. You simply show your hangups by looking for a place to spew your venom
They better do something because they now officially have no chance of winning this one...

"You really ought to put aside your animus."
Maybe you ought to get real.
Obama negotiated a bad deal. If he negotiated the Iran deal like he did the Iraqi SOFA deal, he purposefully negotiated in bad faith.
WNU Editor: Maybe he spiked it because it was a bad deal?
You going to tell WNU that the deal was good?
WNU Editor: I do not know what is in the mind of the Saudi leadership .... but my gut is telling me that if Iran gets the deal that the Saudis think they will get .... I expect the Saudi Arabian government to start pursuing their own nuclear program .... and nuclear nonproliferation .... as we know it .... will be over.
So, Obama destabilized the world with his bad deal!
Obama is known for his poor negotiation skills.
WNU Editor: Even now .... years after the fact .... we are still learning details on what the Obama administration did to get the Iranian nuclear deal. But turning a blind eye to Hezbollah smuggling drugs to the U.S.!?!?!?!? What was President Obama and his advisers thinking?
WNU Editor: These numbers are staggering .... even with all the positive media attention for an Iranian nuclear deal, coupled with a constant stream of positive White House updates on progress .... the American public is not buying the administrations line .... including 58% who call themselves Democrats. But even with these poll results I do not think the White House cares .... they are hell-bent on having a nuclear deal right now .... regardless of the opposition.
No one is buying Obama’s BS except hook, line & stinker guy.
WNU Editor: The White House message and response to these reports are all over the place. Earlier in the day the US State Department Spokesman said that there are no secret side deals between Iran and the IAEA .... Iran, IAEA Have ‘No Secret Deals’ Amid Iran Nuclear Agreement - State Dep't (Sputnik) .... but now we know that there are (see above The Hill post).
And of course Obamas lied.
WNU Editor: If these reports are true it appears that the U.S. is now looking for a way to justify why some of Iran's military sites should not be inspected. Sighhh .... this is not a good sign ... and contrary to what was said earlier today .... U.S. says absurd to suggest that it will cave in Iran talks (Reuters) .... this is a major "cave-in" by the U.S.
Of course since Obama negotiated the deal, it is not a good sign.
a new report revealing Lindsey Graham’s Russia-linked donations
Obama and 5 nations made a deal. Iran said to have abided by that deal. If they do not,did not, then we are justified in any and all actions we might take. But dump the deal? they then have a right to do what they want! thus far, that is what they seem to be doing. Why then blame the nations making the deal, a good one or a bad one. Now there is nothing to counter them with except to launch an attack because they did what they no longer have a deal NOT to do it
Learn from North Korea.
North Korean sanctions for years did little to impede the North Korean missile program and only gave them a means to develop a bargaining chip to bring to the table to the present.
I still firmly believe that North Korea played the long game with the US and its missile program is nothing but a con-game.
Iran is essentially looking for a means to continue its missile program while also offering 'assurances' that would amount to nothing more than a Obama 2.0 Nuclear Deal under Trump.
" its missile program is nothing but a con-game."
And telemetry data says?
...
This happened in 2011 and Lindsey Graham was not charged, but 8 years later someone is still slavering.
Looks like Iran is drowning and scrambling for a lifeboat.. Let it sink.
