CBS: Russia targeted 2016 state elections with "unprecedented level of activity," Senate Intel report says
A report released Thursday by the Senate Intelligence Committee offered new details on the breadth and intensity of what it said was "unprecedented" Russian cyber activity targeting U.S. election infrastructure ahead of the 2016 presidential election, though it echoed a previous, preliminary finding that no votes were changed and no voting machines were manipulated.
The 67-page, unclassified but highly redacted report also left unresolved the mystery of Moscow's intentions as, officials eventually found, it targeted election systems in all 50 states.
Russian intentions for U.S. election infrastructure "remain unclear," the report says. "Russia might have intended to exploit vulnerabilities in election infrastructure during the 2016 elections and, for unknown reasons, decided not to execute those options," the report said.

WNU Editor: The full report is here .... Senate Intelligence Report On Russian Interference In The 2016 Election. This is a heavily redacted report, but from what I read I could not find any numbers or stats on how many votes may have been influenced by this interference, nor any election altered by this interference. My guessing is that the answer is zero.
Update: From the above CBS report ....

Yup. This story is all BS.

Living in an adversarial world, Interference in elections has been a staple of espionage since spies were conceived. The Dems can wail wallow in the fake collusion scandal all they want. And they no doubt will. But this isn’t anything new.

Russ
I have to agree with you on that. In fact I believe it is simply a wonderful ploy for the Democrats to look like they are doing something while passing up opportunities to actually do something.
This story is a retread.
If the Russian wanted to affect the outcome of the election they would just have to send emails to registered Democrats on an official looking electronic documents and put a D behind Donald Trump's name like this:
Donald Trump (D)
Question 1: Is a foreign country gaining full access to our voting systems in 50 states (though maybe not to any effect) acceptable?
Answer: No it is not acceptable. If foreign soldiers broken into a US military base or the White House, but "didn't do anything" we would not just stand by and say "no harm done".
Question 2: Should prior bad behavior on the part of the US mean the US should wallow in moral despair and not defend itself? I see allot of Liberals take this angle, and now I'm seeing a surprising number of Conservatives (commenter above?) take this stance.
Answer (IMHO): At a certain level, the world is dog eat dog. We cannot drop our guard just because a prior generation or another group of Americans did something we don't agree with. Our country must be defended.
At the author: For the record, I enjoy your site and your commentary. However, this article has made me want to post a reply. To me making the claim that Russian interference had zero effect is a position standing on very shaky ground. Absolute statements usually are, and I don't usually hear you make them. Either way I'd love to hear (honestly) what you think about Question 1 and 2.
Question #3
Can the Russians outdo the Democrats in stuffing ballot boxes?
THEN WHY THIS?
Remember when we were all told that it was only a couple of precincts, then a couple of cities, then a couple of states? Remember when it was just data? Now, as far as we can read between the blacked-out lines, we are being asked to believe that the Russian ratfckers could have deleted "voter data," that they "were in a position" to jack around with it, but, having achieved this monumental intelligence triumph, they didn't do anything with it? Does that dog even look like it's hunting any more?
Well it's obvious we will need voter ID's to help secure the voting process.
"The Senate Intelligence Committee confirmed Friday that Russian hackers targeted election systems in all 50 states in advance of the 2016 elections, but did not attempt to alter any vote totals"
The senate in a blaze of speed is looking at the same data that other have looked at in the part 3 years. So nothing new.
We could use paper ballots, but Democrat voters have been proven to be unable to cope with hanging chads. They do not see so well, they do not have the strength to punch out the chad, or they are just unobservant (or stupid).
So this is where we are. We are damned by the Democrats if we do and we are damned by the democrats if we don't.
It is a classic Democrat Catch 22 bitching strategy to bitch until you give up power and give it to them.

right. what does our intel know? listen to Putin. that will fix things.
"our Intel?"
our intel=American as opposed to Putin's word to Trump
Today in one sentence: The House Judiciary Committee will petition a federal judge to unseal Robert Mueller's secret grand jury evidence; Russia targeted the election systems in all 50 states in 2016; U.S. economic growth didn't hit Trump's 2018 target of 3%; and Trump attacked Fox News after the network's pollsters showed him losing a handful of hypothetical matchups against 2020 Democratic candidates.
Yes according to Democrats American Intel hasn't got anything right except Russia Trump Russia Trump,......
Lol
Russ--see if you can spot the difference between a president (!) playing footsies with the Russians and a Dem in office who got fired for doing what you claim here is Dems working with Russia!
For a member of the President’s Cabinet asking the Soviets to intervene to help his side win an internal battle within the administration was more than indiscreet. It was the action of a willing tool of Moscow.
Eventually, Truman fired him in September 1946.
Now you, Trump, and the entire elected GOP think it is OK to cavort with foreign govt!
Wallace got fired! and Trump and buttboys?
"and the entire elected GOP" really Lol, keep talking!
Wallace who?
Wallace the fired transsexual reporter, who said objectivity was so passé?
Cavorting with Russians?
1) Like selling Uranium 1 to Russians
2) Russians donating m $$$ to the Clinton Foundation
3) The Clintons deducting their 6 figure $$$ from the Clinton Foundation
Butt it is all okay, Because the money was laundered in plane site.
I suspect anon 18 til 6 is a Clinton ButtBoy.
