A Chinese Military Crackdown Against Hong Kong Will Severely Damage Beijing's Relations With The U.S.

Joel Gehrke, Washington Examiner: Chinese military operation against Hong Kong could trigger historic rupture with US

A military operation against Hong Kong protesters could trigger a rupture in U.S.-China relations that makes the trade war look minor in comparison, U.S. lawmakers and analysts suggest.

“If Beijing cracked down on Hong Kong, it would require a fundamental reassessment of our relations with their country, the kind that should have happened after Tiananmen Square,” Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said Tuesday.

WNU Editor: A Chinese military crackdown on Hong Kong will not only impact U.S.-China relations, but it will impact China's relations with a number of other countries. The diplomatic fallout will be huge, but it will be the economic sanctions and subsequent military buildup that will have the most effect. China will become a pariah for many countries, and it will no longer be a place for international companies and conglomerates to invest in. China will also face trade restrictions when it comes to exporting its goods, and there is a very good chance that it will be expelled from economic organizations like the G7. The military buildup in response to a Chinese crackdown will also be significant, with China's neighbours leading the way. But the biggest loser will be Hong Kong. Their unique position in Asia as a critical economic hub will be gone, and that loss will translate into trillions in losses for Chinese companies and institutions that are dependent on a prosperous Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong riots have already damaged US-China relations because the US is backing a British directed "color revolution." It's not about "democracy," it's about sowing chaos in China while the trans-Atlantic financial system is in the process of imploding.

There you go Carl talking out your ass. You know what about China? What you read in some propaganda rag?

Do you know how many incidents of unrest there were in China 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago? You are only opining the way you do, because you have been conditioned to bleat out what the rags you read print.

Have you talked to anyone who has been to China? Have you been to China. Have you talked to someone who went to China for business or vacation?

You know there was a riot between the Purples and the Green in Constaninople and Justinian almost fled. I ma sure that George W. Bush and the CIA were behind that color revolution.

Lol carl good one. Have you looked at the Chinese market? Talking about free fall. And keep in mind. .the full effect of sanctions takes about half more year to hit. Their housing bubble is also due early next year, if not sooner ,as it looks like now because to keep fending it off, as they have for years, you need to pump more and more money into your economy, which they cannot. China's economy runs on debt just like everyone else's. Difference is that on top, China has been cooking its books by up to 30% faked GDP data as satellite images have revealed already last year. To the frequent China travelers, as I used to be, this is an open secret. We all knew what they are doing. They bet heavy on the Asian tiger model, Thailand, Singapore etc. .it works great for small economies to build a few shiny buildings and then have a PR campaign to have dumb western investors come. And it almost worked for China too..but for years they went too fast and borrowed too heavily and they made so, so many enemies in the process and the US will likely sue them for trillions in copyright and IP theft. We all know this will be coming. The Hong Kong protests are just putting a magnifying glass on everything. Even our western media "analysts" who all sound like they have no real market experience whatsoever will catch on. The brain drain that's happening will f*ck China too. 2-3 years ago I knew people contemplating to move to china for entrepreneurial incentives. None of them went and now they're so glad they didn't. And no one in his right mind will. You cannot compare surveillance in the US vs what's going on in China. You clearly have not been.
