There was an uneasy sense of calm on Sunday in Shenzhen, the Chinese city on the other side of the bay from Hong Kong where hundreds of troops from the People’s Armed Police [PAP] have been deployed in a show of force that the government in Beijing has called an anti-terrorism manoeuvre.
The troops, some of whom could be seen milling around the Shenzen Bay sports stadium where they are currently barracked, await word on whether they will be ordered to cross and quell what has been a mix of violent anti-government unrest and peaceful protest over the past 11 weeks in the former British colony.

Don't underestimate what the people in Hong Kong will come up with to counter the military/crowd control forces. Unless the military brings in heavy weaponry (which they won't for PR reasons and fear of what will happen in the mainland once the mainland Chinese see what happend), I expect the people in Hong Kong to be able to deliver a very lethal blow to the regime. Cameras documented Iraq II but that did dick all as far as influencing Americans impact on their government's atrocities. Are you saying the Chinese people are more responsible than Americans?
Bob you're confusing two things here
Iraq videos did actually influence much in the US including the famous blackwater lawsuit. .but point taken. .
My point however is this: the videos are not going to do shit in the US-other than further waking up Americans how dangerous China is of course and perhaps help with the gun law discussion etc...BUT.. the videos will do a lot in homeland China/mainland China. They haven't seen demonstrations like this since Tiamen square decades ago. The communist party as you know is like the Nazis back then in Germany, you are not allowed to disobey them. The sjadow police in China is like the Gestapo ..always trying to subdue uprisings and take out their leaders. Seeing these demonstrations and the reasons why they demonstrate could do wonders in promoting freedom and personal rights like dissent and voicing your opinion etc. .that's what the communist party is so scared of
