North Korea has miniaturised nuclear warheads and made them small enough to fit on ballistic missiles, Japan believes (pictured, a recent North Korean weapons test)

The Guardian: North Korea now able to miniaturise nuclear warheads – Japan defence report

Upcoming review out of Tokyo will reportedly say missile programme poses ‘serious and imminent threat’

Japan’s government will reportedly state that North Korea is capable of miniaturising nuclear warheads in a forthcoming defence report, it has emerged.

Tokyo will upgrade its estimate of the regime’s nuclear capability, having said last year only that the technical feat was a possibility, the conservative Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper said on Wednesday, without citing sources.

The defence report will maintain Japan’s contention that North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes pose a “serious and imminent threat” to its security after recent meetings between Donald Trump and the North’s leader, Kim Jong-un, failed to make progress on denuclearisation.

The report is expected to receive cabinet approval in mid-September, the Yomiuri said.

Did North Korea were obviously continue their nuclear development while Trump was bragging about being Kim's good buddy?

Kinda looks like it, doesn't it, Bob? Something they were doing during the 8 year reign of the prior occupant of the White House, by the way.

How did mr. obama's efforts to denuclearize the area work out during his 8 years in office? I've not heard but my hearing isn't the best anymore. I forgot to put in my earplugs when I was first introduced to Mr. Colt's 45 pistol on the firing range at Fort Polk and have had to cup my ears to understand people sometimes for the last 52 years as a result. Not always a nuisance, I can assure you.

Obama's efforts? They worked out as planned. He got a healthcare system as promised, albeit greatly hollowed out, as part of the deal for supporting the republicans.

If you didn't notice some of the democrats formed up the blue dog movement to counter the democratic votes on stuff, you know, so that they were able to give something, but not too much, to the plebs or else they might revolt. It was blatantly obvious to the world, and Obama was such a gentleman all through the process. That he ran for re-election knowing full well he still wouldn't deliver anything serious showed him up for the hack it was, and is.

You forget I am a Canadian and have no interest in who, or which party runs, or miss runs the USA which is why I can see and talk/post about the shenanigans and sometimes absolute criminality, that goes on, no matter who is in power.

I got my Colt 45 in 1967, a Remington 66 (semi-automatic 22} for shooting groundhogs on the farm. Later a working Lee-Enfield and a couple of shotguns none of which were really needed but you know youthful wants and needs. Got rid of all that when the kids came along.

Two years ago my nephew went to Vegas with his girlfriend. He went to a shooting range in that area where he was able to shoot a military grade assault rifle. He fired it several times, noticed the smell in the are and asked what that was. The operator said "Son that is the smell of freedom." My nephew laughed so hard they kicked him out of the range.

I am now deaf in my right ear and I can also assure you it is not always a nuisance either as I am not bothered so much when we go for a drive and my girlfriend rattles on about some crap.

I am grateful that when posting on sites like this I only have to read the nonsense and not have to listen to Anon's voice punctuated with a lot of yuk yuks, guffaws and such.
