Zero Hedge: Why Are Russian Special Forces Training With American Assault Rifles?
One of the most unusual stories to start the week is coming from VladTime, a Russian news agency, who reported Russian Special Forces have been exercising with American M4 carbines this month, with additional reports of how some of these soldiers are currently buying western weapons.
Military officers of the 45th Spetsnaz Airborne Brigade, a special reconnaissance and special operations military unit of the Russian Airborne Troops, said soldiers practiced shooting targets, reloading, and assembly and disassembly of the M4 last week.

WNU Editor: This is the reason why they like the M4 .... The main reason Russian Special Forces like the M4 firing a 5.56 X 45 NATO round, versus the Kalashnikov AK-47 firing a 7.62X39, is that the weapon is more lightweight, ergonomic, and more accurate.

The western made rounds are vastly superior in consistency & quality of grains, less leftover residual from firing.
Russian ammo also subscribes to the quantity over quality ethos.
You are missing the point. When did ocidental specops stopped to train with potential foes armament?
They're doing that for the same reason I trained with Kalashnikovs. I even carried one for a couple of years. Know your enemy; take advantage of whatever ammo is in the vicinity.
In regards to your note, the Russian standard rifle has moved from the AK-47 to an AK-74 which fires a 5.45 x 39mm round, so the Russians can at least appreciate the same move of the West which relegated the old standard NATO 7.62 x 51mm to a secondary ammo.
Good points here and I think anon@334 is spot on. Russia has seen the effectiveness of their mission in Ukraine "what? We Russians are blamed for killing thousands of Ukrainians? No no my friend these are not Russians! " (soldiers in back of camera view rip off their Russian stripes ) ;)
They will keep doing this to make it harder for UN to reach consensus.
1. Deniability and delay in decision making of opposing bodies
2. Reduction of costs/penalties inflicted by supranational bodies (eg G7 which was G8 before Russia attacked Ukraine) due to Deniability and gullibility of our leaders
3. Train with your enemies weapons. I put this last because Russians don't like American rifles like the M4
