The G-7 Summit Has Begun

Trump threatened to tax French wine before he left Washington but made nice with Macron on Saturday at an emergency luncheon

Donald Trump made nice with Emmanuel Macron on Saturday afternoon, breaking bread with him before the official open of the G7 at the posh Hotel du Palais in Biarritz.

Trump threatened to tax French wine and disparaged fellow leaders outside the White House. He offered a detente at Hotel du Palais, however, as he held emergency talks with his host.

He said the pair had been 'friends for a long time' and 'have a lot in common' with one another.

'And every once in a while, we go at it just a little bit, not very much,' he acknowledged. 'But we get along very well. We have a very good relationship.'
