America has the upper hand in the ongoing trade negotiations with China, and the temporary reprieve that President Trump recently gave the Chinese regime is only further proof that our strong economy grants us a degree of flexibility that Beijing can’t hope to match.
There are a lot of misconceptions about the president’s announcement that he is postponing certain tariff increases on China.
It’s true that this temporary delay addresses the one area where short-term access to cheap consumer goods has the potential to noticeably impact U.S. consumers: Christmas gifts. Overall, consumer goods are not rapidly inflating in price, and the postponement will ensure that nothing of the sort takes place during the busiest shopping season of the year.

Anon 655 look..Trump's China Argument is well documented for almost 30 years maybe more I'm not sure. There are interviews with him going back to the 80s that document his belief on China (and back then also Japan in his view and many shared this at that time. .people forget how Japanese industry agents are famous for just taking very detailed pictures on trade fairs .. this happened before and we had issues with the Japanese for some time about this. .you may disagree and that is your right. But I'm European - I have no beef in this directly @ Trump or Democrats or republicans - but the industrial theft is well documented for decades. OK you may say it's all a lie and I'm happy to listen but so far whet I've heard on all sides is that this has occurred in the hundreds of billions a year - on top of the now also staggering 500bn trade deficit a year. And I understand the arguments on trade deficit and what it is but the Chinese leadership openly declares war on our way of live like individualism instead of collectivism. One party rule. The Chinese way is too similar to the Nazi German way and their motivations. .think of the language they use. .tust their time has come ..that this is the Chinese century. .that we held them back ..that their system is superior. .the Religion is not tolerated. .that mass resettlement by force is OK. .that concentration camps are OK (@urdus). Your side has to stop to compare Trump top a nazi and that your borders have concentration camps. It is insane and very bad for the World which should unite in the face of what's happening. IP theft was a general catch-all term first used in the 1960s to describe something civilizations and countries have been doing for centuries; namely, steal ideas and methods that eventually become part of the public domain.
Chinese trawlers rammed some boats. American military invaded, destabilized 4 countries and killed over a million people on two continents in the last 20 years. America is the shining city on a hill. The only wonderous democracy to have an electoral college and kiddie concentration camps.

Look I honestly consider your arguments and the US needs to demonstrate specific instances to make their case of IP theft in the hundreds of billions..But please consider mine too. There is a clear pattern by China to ignore international law. And they game the system of developing nation status on top. And they have openly declared all but military war on us. Vietnam was almost at war with them 2yes ago. India last year. Come on. People are easily misled but the patterns are so obvious. All I all of you is to think what do you want for humanity in the next 50+ years? A major cold war between a 1/5 of the world and the rest? This is stupid. No one wants that. 1) The Taliban rulers of Afghanistan harbored terrorists that killed thousands of Americans and hundreds of Africans. Al Qaeda admitted responsibility for 911.
2) After 911, Sadam Hussein, who continually broke an armistice after losing a war where he invaded a neighboring country was dethroned. There was n peace treaty with Iraq only an armistice. He broke it.
You stat of a million people is made up. Figures lie and liars figure. Of those million or wwhatever the number is, how many or what percentage were killed by Al Qaeda, The Taliban, Iran or Pakistan? You lie about it.
