Hong Kong Protesters Appeal To President Trump To 'Liberate' The City

CNN: Hong Kong protesters march to US Consulate to call for help from Trump

Protests calling on US President Donald Trump to intervene in the ongoing Hong Kong political standoff escalated rapidly Sunday, with marchers setting fire to a barricade outside a subway station entrance in the city's business district.

Earlier in the day, tens of thousands of protesters waving US flags marched on Hong Kong's US Consulate to call for help from the Trump administration in ending a three-month confrontation with the government.

The march began in the Chater Garden public park in Central before heading to the consulate as part of the 14th straight weekend of public demonstrations in the Asian financial hub.

In a letter which protesters planned to presented to consulate officials, the group calls for the passing of the proposed "Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act 2019" by the US Congress.

An appeal for help which, if denied, or, receives a response that consists merely of a word of advice to China and accomplishes nothing, will embolden China. From the US perspective, if Trump does appeal, perhaps even condemn China which has basically done nothing so far, what would he be prepared to do next if China just ignores him?

If Bob Buntley were president, he would do 'X' about Hong Kong to make things better.

I found a video of Bob Buntley spouting off

Enjoy

You should be aware that in the absence of a reasonalbe, perhaps even rationale counter argument, or, proposal you resort to an inane response thereby showing your disdain for the original poster but agreement with the post.

Thank you for accepting my comment in that light.

You can't piss me off today. Yesterday I went to Casino Rama and won a $35,000 jackpot so my girlfriend and I spent the night in their very nice, upper level, facilities.

The Trump patter thus far is to support dictatorial leaders and show distain for those protesting...he will not support this protest.

So Bob Puntley is still doing his Statler and Waldorf gig.

to attack one because you do not like his positions and call him names rather than dealing with what he has said reveals a person not very bright or emotionally intelligent

So many different anons..here my take:

Trump will think about this opportunity. ..usually what he does is to say "xi can solve this in an hour if he were to sit down he could get it solved in no time"(combined with "and I respect Xi")... so what he does is pretend to respect but suggest an action "sit down" and that Xi should get involved "he could get it done" and that he could do it fast "in an hour". So he raises Xi stakes by increasing demand for a xi action "sit down already" and expectations "he could get it done in an hour".. it's of course a smart move and hurts xi as it is disrespecting as it makes Xi his subject ("xi could get it done in an hour..but here we are. .weeks into this mess")...

I think he'll stay with that sort of messaging as he cannot up the ante any further. He will not get involved in helping Hong Kong other than symbolic. A press conference would help them symbolically and in terms of messaging. .but other than that nothing will happen. This is not Taiwan where you can sell arms to. Hong Kong will remain China. And China lost already face by removing the extradition law

The question is, who is behind this new protest against China, with the Chinese protesters asking the USA to intervene?

Who obtained thousands of US flags, who organized the marchers?

The CIA? George Soros? The Democratic Party?

Without a doubt it is a trap for President Trump.

sure. the entire protest, day after day, is all to entrap Trump!
who planned it? if you have evidence, present it.Otherwise your silly biases remain just that: stupid
In fact we know from the record that Trump has always said nice things about oppressive regimes and thus far never supported protesting places

Obama, the weak and cowardly, did not support the Green Revolution in Iran.

Iranian Green Movement

What did Obama say or do in Yemen? It is now broken.

Obama didn't say much about Libya, but he broke it.

"Veni, Vidi, Confregisti" - Obama

I guess we must give Obama his due and hail him as Libicus.

Hillary Clinton was real flip about the whole Libya affair.

"We came, We saw, He died" - The Heifer

Libya and Europe have been fucked-up and fucked-over ever since Obama.
