Iran's Foreign Minister Zarif Threatens 'All-Out War' In Case Of A Military Strike On Iran

CNN: Exclusive: Zarif threatens 'all-out war' in case of military strike on Iran

Iran's foreign minister has raised the specter of "all-out war" in the event of US or Saudi military strikes and that Saudi Arabia would have to fight "to the last American soldier."

Javad Zarif told CNN that Iran hoped to avoid conflict, adding that the country was willing to talk to its regional rivals Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. But the possibility of a return to negotiations with the US, however, would not happen unless Washington provided full sanctions relief as promised under the 2015 nuclear deal, Tehran's top diplomat said.

He again denied Tehran's involvement in weekend attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities, which dramatically ratcheted up tensions in the region this week. Zarif said Yemen's Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, who claimed responsibility for the attack, have stepped up their military capabilities and are capable of conducting a sophisticated operation such as the one that knocked out half of the kingdom's energy production.

I doubt Iran will be as easy as Iraq was.

fear not roberto: we will not attack
there is a scam at work here. I leave that to come out, possibly, in the near future

Not sure. ..if they go to war this time I think it'll be without ground forces, which would mean mass precision strikes. Keep in mind the US has had war plans for decades now after Iraq fiasco that hopefully have been adapted. Iran on the ground in urban warfare would be a no go obviously, so it'd mean they would try to bomb in such a way to keep civilian casualties at minimum. That will fail ofc eventually. Trump knows that. What his counter answer is I don't know but he's been creative so far. Not very successful in all areas (see north Korea) but realistically some things just are not solvable unless you're willing to kill everyone on the ground, and I just don't think he's that kind of guy. He'll go strike where it hurts the regime. They all like luxury, certain cars, yachts, access to countries, Visas, cash and on and on. Iran is exporting oil and I'm sure other things like dates or what not. He'll go for all of it to bleed them dry. And he will likely go for coverted ops - more Iranian tankers and Iran missiles (see satellite launch platform that exploded) and space program and nuclear program might explode randomly and then there will be a tweet like "damn you guys are unlucky" ;)

So Trump says he is unconvinced and needs more evidence.

Liberals say it is a scam.

Ergo, Liberals want Trump's head.

Iran is a very mountainous country and is many times the size of Iraq in area and population. And unlike Iraq there is no easy way to invade.

The USA really made a foolish mistake by removing Iran's enemy, Saddam Hussein, and then becoming the targets of Iran-backed Shia militias for many years, providing them with much experience in asymmetric warfare and leading to the present disastrous situation.

This is true unfortunately and it was done on intel that turned out to be faulty. While I can't be certain, I think its highly likely that someone like Trump wouldn't have fallen into that trap.

I agree with anon @ 12:20. There's a scam at work here. Even the Saudis are subdued and low key. They don't even seem convinced.

Maybe we can get lucky here. Maybe Iran and Saudi Arabia can fight each other. Maybe they can both lose.

Anons
What the MSM has reported is what the White House has given them. And what Saudi Arabia has given them.
more sanctions...that is what has been done while at the same time Pompeo announces to the world that what Iran has done is an act of war..
ps: you might be content with sanctions but Russia and China seem to make Iran ok with the sanctions
Trump: there is or might be a red line in the sand somewhere if only I could figure out where it is.
Just thinking: oil prices fairly low now. Saudi Arabia despises Iran and is wealthy from its oil...oh, those pesky electric cars coming more and more to people? what to do about our oil wealth?

They will be easier, no troops on the ground and iraqs airdefences, and airforce was far more advanced comparatively speaking for the period.

Ohhhhhh sanctions.... They're so scared.. Iran bluffs, again.. Trump folds.

Sanctions work. Japan attacked because of them. They would have attacked anyway, but the sanctions effed up their timetable.
