Red Cross: 'More Than 100 Killed' In Saudi Airstrike On Yemen Prison

BBC: Yemen war: More than 100 dead in Saudi-led strike, says Red Cross

More than 100 people have died in Yemen after the Saudi-led coalition launched a series of air strikes on a detention centre, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The ICRC said that at least 40 survivors were being treated after the attack on Sunday in the city of Dhamar.

Local residents reported hearing six air strikes during the night.

The Saudi-led coalition, which backs Yemen's government, said its attack destroyed a drone and missile site.

The Iran-aligned Houthi rebel movement, which is fighting in opposition to the government and Saudi-led coalition, said the strikes had hit a facility it was using as a prison. The ICRC said it had visited detainees at the location before.

Franz Rauchenstein, the head of delegation for the ICRC in Yemen, said the organisation was collecting bodies from the site and described the chances of finding more survivors as "very low".

If people are locked up for theft, murder, or rape, they are hurting society, right?

The society they are hurting is the Houthi society.

They are currently out of circulation and may be put permanently out of circulation, but they are taking up Houthi resources.

For the Saudis it is best that the Houthis have to divert resources to feeding and jailing criminals than to the war effort.

I think the Saudi intelligence was had. They were fed false information.

You could have the Red Cross visit a dual purpose facility, so that in the future if their weapons factory is hit, they still win. They have picture for the press.

For example Hezbollah built a command and control center under a grade school. If the Israelis want to degrade Hezbollah command and control and hit the school, the Hezbo's will have plenty of pictures and will have a bigger victory than if they shot down an air wing's worth of jets.

According to IDF intelligence, since the end of the Second Lebanon War in 2006, Hezbollah has built as many as 550 bunkers in the southern Lebanon region, holding various weapons. In addition, the organization has built 300 underground facilities and 100 storage units for munitions including rockets, missiles and other weapons.

Many of these terror centers are located near hospitals, private homes and schools, Hezbollah's way of taking advantage of the civilian population of Lebanon. According to the IDF Northern Command, Hezbollah operatives have doubled in number since the end of the last wa

The NAZIs, if they had thought of it, would have put would have put an arms manufacturing plant under a concentration camp.

If they allies would have bombed the plant, the Germans would have displayed the blown-up bodies of the dead inmates for propaganda.
